engage in extramarital affairs. Even though last month was Women’s Month and we worked to increase awareness of gender-based violence, we still wake up to reports of individuals killing one another, primarily males women.

A few days ago, a report about a woman named Palesa Mahlamela became popular. In her best attire, Palesa left the house to go to a party with her partner. It was very bad Palesa hadn’t come home that day. The next day, her mother got a phone telling her that Palesa was in the hospital, but that she had passed away. When the family got there, their daughter was lying in a pool of blood. Her spouse drove her to the hospital. They believe that she must have been killed by her husband because she had been hiding his abuse for a very long time despite the fact that they knew she had been in an abusive relationship.
