The River is the 1Magic (Channel 103) telenovela which started in 28 January 2018. It is recommended as the best in Mzansi. This TV show has won multiple awards and it also contains talented cast.

However, some of the actors and actresses have been fired for some reasons. See them below:

1. Moshidi Motshekgwa

Moshidi Motshekgwa played the the character of fan’s favourite, Malefu. She got fired from the show because she was difficult to work with, not only did she make her own screen daughter Tumie Mokoena’s life onset difficult but she made the producers and the writers’s life hell by continuously changing the script to suit her needs.

This veteran actress allegedly had a disagreement with The River co-creator, she didn’t like some of the things that her character had to go through; for example, after her own screen husband Thato Mokoena was killed, she didn’t want to date right away again.

However, she didn’t like the way they portrayed her character as a needy and desperate black widow that would stoop so low and daye any loser. It was actually her idea to give Walter, played by Jet Novuka hard time on the show. She also didn’t approve Tumi’s character played by Larona Moagi. She was criticising Larona’s acting and often made her cry on set.

However, Moshidi wasn’t told in person that they no longer needed her in the show, instead they apparently ne-rewed all the actors contracts except hers. Everyone went home for festive season, and when they started shooting season 2 in the new year they apparently just told her that they no longer have lines for her character.

2. Jet Novuka

Jet played the character of Walter who was supposed to be Malefu’s lover and was eliminated from the show because of her. Moshidi apparently costed Walter’s job on the show because of her nagging, being too controlling and constant fighting with producers and other actresses on the show.

They stopped his character because of Moshidi as her Malefu character didn’t find him to be a suitable man for her. They tried to match him with Flora, played by Tina Mnumzana, but they didn’t find the storyline interesting, that is where they considered to ditch it by killing Walter.

3. Zenokuhle Maseko

Mbali’s role was ditched because of Larona Moagi’s character Tumi. Once Tumie and Lindiwe, played by Sindi Dlathu were to reconcile as mother and daughter, then there was no need for Lindiwe to have a second daughter.

Mbali was eliminated so that her mother (Lindiwe) and Tumie could have a strong bond as mother and daughter. As a matter of fact, Lindiwe would have never loved and needed Tumi if she still had her daughter Mbali. They terminated her contract because her character was no longer necessary on the show.

4. Zenzo Nqobe

Zenzo Nqobe played the character of Cobra’s best friend, Percival who was a thug and mastermind. He and Cobra were so close in such a way that he even attended Cobra’s wedding as his best man.

However, Zenzo was nominated for the best supporting actror which was won by his co-star Lawrence Maleka who plays the character of Zalani. This former Rhythm city actor was allegedly fired on The River as on Rhythm city because he is apparently unreliable.

5. Lunga Shabalala

Lindani played by Lunga Shabalala has permanently exited the show. At first, fans were not pleased with Lindani’s acting but lately he was different, his acting skills were improved. As a matter of fact, it hasn’t yet been revealed whether Lunga is fired or he’s the one who decided to leave the show on his own.
