Coming From Going To is the album that helped to get Moneoa an industry nord with hit singles like More Than You and Isbhanxa topping the charts up until this day. It seems like that victory has been short-lived after she was brave enough to tell as to what happened from thereafter. It has been a very sad day after realizing that she was subjected to so much trauma at the hands of someone that calmed to love her. Join us as we unpack more of the story below and share the latest.

On the video she shared on Instagram, the songwriter and singer revealed that his ex boyfriend Phiwe Maphanga was very abusive and swindled her of the money she worked hard for. One day he beat her to a pulp after he complained that she refused to give him breakfast on New Year’s Day. It seems like he had this whole thing premeditated because just after the beating, he bought her a Range Rover. What’s the catch? Well, he assigned Moneoa as the owner of the vehicle and payed it for some time. After a while, he missed out on payments and she was forced to pay.

Where the swindling began

We all know how brutal the music industry is after you stop releasing music, she was then forced to move out of her apartment which she couldn’t afford anymore. He also once told her to leave her record label Gallo and join the one he owns – Dynasty. He then swindled her of the masters rights. This means that she cannot have access to her music anymore nor cannot perform it anywhere.

Has she got any help?

According to her statement, she opened numerous cases at the Randburg and Sandton police station but they all disappeared. Moneoa lost over R500k worth of furniture, music rights, her self esteem and was left with only trauma. Industry colleagues and fans have shown to be in solidarity with her and hope that she will be able to once again grace them with her wonderful voice.
