Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung, a media celebrity, has replied to claims of abuse brought by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo.
The Sunday World reported over the weekend that Mohale had accused the “Idols SA” judge of abuse in an interview with producers of the reality show “Living the Dream with Somizi.” According to the weekly tabloid, Mohale told producers that Somizi tried to kill him with a kitchen knife and hit him off the road with his car while he tried to flee. The pair had been battling over Mohale’s alleged infidelity. Somizi’s management issued a statement confirming that there was trouble in paradise, saying he was aware of the allegations of abuse against him.“Mr Somizi Mhlongo has become aware of allegations allegedly made against him by his estranged husband, Mr Mohale Motaung, published in the Sunday World newspaper on August 1, 2021,” the statement read.
“Given the seriousness of the claims, Mr Mhlongo has submitted the case to his legal team, who are best suited to handle it moving forward.“No further statement will be offered until such time as his legal representatives feel necessary.” Since their dream wedding in 2019, various fissures in their relationship have emerged, which South Africans have witnessed firsthand. Everything has been documented on Somizi’s reality show “Living the Dream with Somizi,” the couples respective social media accounts, and even their very own wedding special, “Somizi & Mohale: The Union” on Showmax, from the moment he introduced Mohale to his friends and family to the moment he proposed in France.
Mohale allegedly moved out of their marital home after the couple stopped appearing in public together, stopped blogging about each other on social media (something they did on a regular basis), and stopped appearing in public together. While both Somizi and Mohale insisted that their marriage was well, the couple made news earlier this year after an IOL Entertainment search revealed that Somizi no longer follows his husband on Instagram or Twitter. Somizi is followed by Mohale on both platforms. He last shared a photo with Somizi in December of last year.Somizi opened up about his marriage and completing the one-year challenge earlier this year. The actor admitted that he and Mohale had good and bad times in their relationship. “It’s just like any other relationship; it has its ups and downs, and right now, we are facing that one-year challenge of a marriage, and I am not ashamed of that.” The star was a guest on Anele Mdoda’s “Anele and the Club on 947” radio show, where they talked about a variety of topics, including his marriage. The actor, on the other hand, stated that he will refer the subject to his lawyers.
