“Stained Glass ruined The Wife, they used Dudu and her fans” Tweeps glum over Showmax series

When Showmax announced that The Wife would be coming to our screens, a lot of debate was set ablaze. It was clearly stated that the series would not be a screen replica of the book, but as people who read the book, there are parts that we held dear and expected that Stained Glass and everyone on the project would respect and protect.

The most obvious fuss was about the characters, but we quickly moved on from that. What we will not move on from though, is the sheer disrespect of characters and what made them stand out. For example, there was no point in the book where Qhawe had a crush on Hlomu. For Stained Glass to turn Hlomu into a man-eater who even follows her husband’s brother, was the final nail in the coffin.

We came to terms with the fact that the series was “INSPIRED BY” Hlomu the Wife and is not the book in a televised form. Be that as it may, I feel that it is wrong for Stained Glass to use Sis Dudu to comb in viewers, only for them to completely change everything. The only affiliation that the series has with the book might as well be the character names. First, they killed one of the brothers, and now Hlomu is sleeping with Qhawe. Hlomu, the very same woman who built the family is now being depicted as the one to break it apart.

Between Qhawe and Hlomu someone must be dreaming there… Stained Glass must not do us dirty like that! Enhle

Stained Glass Pictures treated this story like Uzalo and Durban Gen. They ruined Hlomu The Wife so much. Treated it like a typical SA TV drama 🤡🤡🤡🤡 Miss Pampi
