Springbok Mapimpi shares cryptic post amid injury: ‘Me against me’

Injured Springbok player Makazole Mapimpi has had his Instagram followers scratching their heads after he shared a cryptic post that all was not as it seemed.

Earlier this month, the star player returned to South Africa after a facial fracture ruled him out of the Rugby World Cup. Following his exit, he “best friend” Lukhanyo Am was flown up as his replacement.

 

 

MAPIMPI HINTS ALL IS NOT WELL?
In an Instagram Story on Thursday, 18 October, Makazole Mapimpi hinted at his state of mind in a cryptic post.

It read: “We all get a little mad sometimes. Just don’t forget who you are in the process of it”.

He added: “It’s me against me”.

Mapimpi has since deleted the IG Story. The post comes amid Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber naming his squad set to face England in a semi-final showdown.

mapimpi, springbokAfter being consulted by a medical doctor, the extent of his injury was determined: a fractured cheekbone and eye socket. The recovery time frame was between 4 – 6 weeks.

Rassie said in a media briefing: “We will miss him because he is a brilliant rugby player and a fantastic person.”

Rassie added that should the SA progress to the Rugby World Cup final, he would fly Mapimpi and Malcolm Marx – who was also injured – back to France.
