South African actresses who have been winning despite being college dropouts.

South Africa’s entertainment industry has quickly risen to become one of the best in the world. Mzansi has been winning big in the arts and on small screens. However, the acting industry, which has been booming recently, is of interest. Back home, however, numerous notable individuals have won big despite being school dropouts. Here is a list of famous South African actresses who have achieved success despite being college dropouts.

1.Nelisa Mchunu
Like those before her, she discovered her craze for acting when she was young. In a bid to satisfy her craze for acting, she enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand to study BA in Media Studies.However, she failed to foot her fees and was forced to drop out due to home financial woes. In the wake of her dropout, she switched to PR before finding her feet in the acting industry.

2. Ama Qamata
Her thrust into the limelight came when she was just 17-years-old. The actress was cast in SABC’s sitcom My Perfect Family. However, from there, she has been winning big, from starring in Gomora to playing a lead role in Netflix’s original series Blood and Water.

In Mzansi Magic’s drama series Gomora, she was cast as Buhle Ndaba before playing a lead role as Puleng Khumalo in the hit Netflix series Blood & Water. Of interest is the fact that the actress is a school dropout. The actress was enrolled at the University of Cape Town. However, she had to dump her theatre and performance degree in the second year.

3. Minnie Dlamini

The celebrated media personality and actress had to de-register and drop out of the University of Capetown. Her dropout came against the backdrop of a television gig.She chose her craze for acting over education and it seems as if the big gamble is she did years back is paying off.

4. Boity Thulo
After some financial difficulties, the effervescent personality dropped her Psychology and Criminology degree at Monash University.Following her dropout, she maintained her acting craze by signing with a casting agency; the rest is history.
