Sonia Booth’s went from being virtually little known to become an instant celebrity after her Cheesecake cheating video went viral.
The 44-year-old mom of two has capitalised on the scandal that gripped South Africans late last year and turned it into a burgeoning business.
And front and centre is the baked treat that had her both vilified for airing her and heralded for not lying low and licking her wounds as her marriage fell apart.
Sonia relaunched her company, Marula Cheesecake Passion, on Valentine’s Day.
“It’s a perfect case of making lemonade from lemons,” she said.
Things turned sour between Sonia and her husband, Matthew Booth, when she accused the former Bafana Bafana star of being unfaithful.
In a series of scathing posts, she shared how Matthew (45) had baked a cheesecake one night. She presumed it was for their son’s birthday the next day but by morning the cake was gone and she claimed he’d taken it to his lover in one of her Tupperware containers.
Sonia also alleged his affair began on Valentine’s Day last year and posted bank statements that showed purchases of flowers and expensive lunch dates as proof. But it was the cheesecake in her Tupperware that was the final straw.
Sonia uploaded a video of herself going to the woman’s house to retrieve her container, which she later placed on the floor of the garage where Matthew couldn’t miss it.
