Dieketseng Mnisi, who plays Nontombi, Mrs. Seakamela on Skeem Saam, used to be married to Emzini Wezinsizwa, who was also an actor on the show.
Chirwali was played by Jabulani Nkosi on the sitcom. He is one of the three main cast members who are still alive, since six of them have already died. Jerry Phele (Mofokeng) and Vusi Thanda are the other two (Tshawe).
Dieketseng was born a Tsonga woman. She married Nkosi, who is Zulu. Her children speak isizulu because she knows it’s important for people to learn their spouse’s language when they marry into a different ethnic group.
Dieketseng doesn’t think that language is a barrier. That’s why she took on the role of MaNtuli even though she didn’t know how to speak Sepedi at the time. She learned, though, and did a great job.
Dieketseng didn’t say much about how their marriage was when he talked about it. She only told us that she was married to Nkosi until they got a divorce. She didn’t tell us why they split up. They were married for 22 years before they split up in 2005.
They were lucky to have two kids who grew up to be adults. They are both in their 30s. Dieketseng and Nkosi are no longer together, but they still get along well, and she sometimes talks to him about their kids.
