The Amapiano producer and DJ died at the age of 27. News of her death was announced on Tuesday, July 25. The Konka hit singer grew up in KZN’s Kokstad and was now currently living in Joburg before her untimely death. Her mother, Kholeka Mevana, told Daily Sun that her death has left them deeply hurt, adding that they are still waiting for the results of the post-mortem on her cause of death.


 

 

 

“Only an autopsy will be able to determine the cause of her death. But as far as we know, she was suddenly disturbed in the last moments of her life. She mentioned to those around her that she was not in good health. That’s why we lost her. I feel so bad and broken and sad right now,” she said.

Kholeka said DJ Mbali was a wonderful person and she loved her family and friends. She was the “life of the party.” She was a fun, energetic person who loved life. She was a young, ambitious talent who knew exactly what she wanted,” she added. Kholeka said Amahle bravely pursued her career and embodied the phrase “work hard, play hard.”

“A person who always sees the silver lining in every situation. She’s always fun to be around and never boring,” Kholeka said.

Her sister Zenande Mevana said anyone who was lucky enough to meet her was a true blessing. She said she will remember her as someone who loved her family more, including her music career.

She released her first EP titled “The First Bang” followed by “Konka” with collaborations with Soulful G and Audio Addicts. She was busy trying to complete the latest projects with producers, Audio Addicts.

Zenande said her sister wanted to work with DBN Gogo, Uncle Waffles, DJ CNDO, Jessica LM, Soulful G, Kwazi M and others. More details about the funeral will be revealed by her family on social networks.
