‘She’ll plead insanity’: Dr Nandipha ‘sings’ during bail hearing

Fraud-accused Dr Nandipha Magudumana appeared at the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court for her bail hearing on Monday, 11 September, where she was filmed bumping her head and moving her lips.

DR NANDIPHA ACCUSED OF PLAYING ‘MENTAL ILLNESS’ CARD
According to social media users, the “singing or praying” was a ploy for Dr Nandipha to “plead insanity” in order for Magistrate Estelle de Lange to grant her bail.

“I’m sure she now wants to use the ‘mental illness’ card since all her cards have failed,” said one X user.

While another said: “She’ll plead insanity.”

BAIL DENIED
Last week, the mom-of-two – who is the girlfriend of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester – told the court she could afford R10 000 bail.

Her lawyers tried to convince the court that she was not a flight risk, would not evading her trial and wants to be released on bail to look after her two daughters.

In addition, her argued that she had left the country under “pressure and threats” from Bester.

These arguments were, however, not convincing for De Lange who said she does not believe any bail conditions would “ensure she attends trial”. The magistrate also said that Dr Nandipha had failed to “satisfy the court that the interests of justice permit her release on bail”.

Dr Nandipha, her father (Zolile Sekeleni) and other co-accused face charges related to the escape Bester from Mangaung Correctional Services in May last year. Bester and another accused abandoned their bids, while nine of the other co-accused have been granted bail by different courts.
