‘She must come explain her nonsense’ Kelly Khumalo told

It seems Tumelo Madlala chose not to comment on Kelly Khumalo’s statement about the events surrounding Senzo Meyiwa’s death during the cross-examination in the Meyiwa murder trial. This took place in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Advocate Zithulele Nxumalo, representing one of the five accused men in the Meyiwa murder case, read a statement made by Khumalo to the police following the shooting of her former boyfriend.

“I saw a spot of blood on his back and then I turned him over and I saw a lot of blood on his chest,” Nxumalo said, reading from the singer’s statement.

“He fell onto the couch and I held him while screaming for help. At that time, the gunman was still in the house and my son was standing next to him,” he quoted.

Nxumalo pointed out that Khumalo’s statement contradicted Madlala’s testimony, where Madlala had explicitly stated that he observed minimal blood coming from the chest. Madlala strongly disagreed with Khumalo’s statement.

“I don’t know what she was talking about, she must come and explain that because even the blood she’s talking about, I didn’t see it, I only saw blood spots,” he said.

“Please put that statement aside and let that person come here and explain that nonsense.”

Nxumalo went on further and pointed out other contradictions which were made by other witnesses.

Meyiwa was was shot in October 2014, at the home of Kelly’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo, in the house when the tragic incident took place, there were the mother-and-daughter duo, Kelly’s sister Zandile Khumalo, her then boyfriend Longwe Twala and Meyiwa’s friends, Madlala and Mthokozisi Thwala.

From the eye witnesses who were present that place, the rest have testified in court, only Kelly, Ntombi and Longwe haven’t testified in court.
