Shalate fell in love with film, music, and drama when she was only 8 years old after she joined her schools choir and drama club. The actress got her first tast of what she is doing now when she featured in two short films, and it was after that when she knew that she wanted to act. She also landed a small role as Milicent in the camio season three of The River.
