Advocate Malesela Teffo who is representing the accused in Senzo Meyiwa’s case has opened a can worms in this trial which has been dragging for a long time now, prompting critics to question whether or not Meyiwa will ever get justice.

 

Advocate Teffo says they will bring a witness to testify that Senzo Meyiwa was “already dead” by the time he was removed from the scene and taken to the hospital.

This came out during Teffo’s cross examination of sergeant Thabo Mosia. He puts it to Mosia that the removal “of the body” was tampering with the crime scene.

Mosia was the first forensic expert called out to the scene of the crime in 2014.

He explains that he arrived at the crime scene at 00:20 where he met with the late Brigadier Ndlovu.

“I asked for the summary of what had happened. I asked about the number of suspects and firearms, how many suspects and the time that the crime was committed,” he said.

Advocate Malesela Teffo argues that there are so many loopholes in this case, for instance, sergeant Thabo Mosia admits that by the time he recorded his statement of the crime scene, it was four years and four months later after Senzo Meyiwa’s murder.

This makes it possible that a lot of things might have been omitted from the statement due to the time.

Teffo questioned Mosia if he was still unmoved even after he has red his statement that there may have been a possible contamination of the crime scene?

The sergeant however maintains that he never suspected there could have been some tempering of evidence at the scene as he only recorded what was there

“I can only confirm my time of arrival of the scene. I never suspected any tampering of the crime scene,” he said.

Advocate Malesela Teffo has now revealed that he will bring a witness who will testify that Senzo Meyiwa was already dead when he was taken to hospital, and that the people were simply going to “dump” him at the mortuary.

Teffo says that he believes the second case docket, and that the court should order the NPA to continue charging Kelly Khumalo and the six other suspects in the second case docket.

“All these stories of some people entering this house, is nonsensical. These seven people just hatched a plan. How are we going to tell the lies to the police?” Teffo says.

Judge Maumela however says he doesn’t have that power to order NPA to continue charging Kelly Khumalo and six others.
