Senzo Meyiwa Murder: Zandie Khumalo Under Fire After Weeping On Her Interview

In response to the interview that musician Zandie Khumalo-Gumede gave on eNCA on Monday, July 18th, users of social media have shared their thoughts.

The Ikhwela singer, who was present on October 26, 2014, when Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was killed, did not quite convince tweeps with her emotions as they claimed that her crying was nothing but “crocodile tears.” The singer was present at the time when Meyiwa was killed.

Zandie, who was one of the people who saw what happened on that tragic day almost eight years ago, sat down with writer Slindelo Masikane to discuss the sequence of events that led up to the disaster.

The singer claims that the investigations have been going on for far too long, and all she wants is to have her day in court, just like her sister, Kelly Khumalo, who was the girlfriend of the deceased soccer player at the time. Both of them want to be heard.

Zandie disclosed that both she and Longwe, who was her boyfriend at the time, were “interrogated” for several hours after Meyiwa’s death. She also mentioned that they were asked to provide additional statements during this time. After a period of time, possibly months or even years, the investigating officers had her, her sister Kelly, and their mother Ntombi Khumalo participate in a role-playing exercise and take lie detector tests.

In a very emotional moment, Zandie disclosed that the tragedy that occurred at their house in Vosloorus that night had caused a great deal of suffering for both her family and the people who lived nearby. However, she shocked everyone when she said that Meyiwa’s wife, Mandisa Mkhize, might have been responsible for the star’s death.

“Mandisa has never once been observed by anyone. No one! What’s the deal with not taking Mandisa’s phone as well? Why is Mandisa not the subject of an investigation? She inquired about it.

She went on to blame the Meyiwa family, specifically the matriarch, for the tragedy, claiming that the matriarch’s animosity for Kelly could have been a contributing factor.

According to Zandie, the goalie’s mother had such a deep-seated hatred for her sister Kelly that she allegedly used umuthi to cast a spell on the Empini singer called “isichitho” in order to cause the singer and her son to end their relationship.

To what extent has she gone to ensure that this [relationship] does not take place? Is it even remotely plausible that she and her daughter-in-law [Mandisa] authorized a hit, not necessarily to target Senzo but rather to target Kelly?” Zandie inquired.

During the course of the interview, Zandie shown signs of emotion on multiple occasions. She made a request for tissues at some point, but people aren’t buying what she’s selling.
