Throughout the day, they have wished him a happy birthday in paradise, noting with sadness that this is his first birthday without him. The family has paid respect to him, despite the fact that this has been a painful day.

His wife, Connie, penned a moving obituary in which she described how difficult it is to live without her husband and how it still seems impossible that he has passed away.
