SABC1’s ‘Skeem Saam’ has lost nearly 2 million viewers after reaching over 5 million viewers in July.

SABC1’s ‘Skeem Saam’ has lost nearly 2 million viewers after reaching over 5 million viewers in July.
The latest figures from the Television Audience Measurement (TAM) by the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) reveal that Skeem Saam lost 1.3 million viewers between July and November 2023.
BRCSA November 2023 figures reveal that the educational soapie, Skeem Saam, which scored 5 million viewers in July is currently sitting on 3.7 million.
Soapie fans congratulated Skeem Saam for hitting the 5 million mark in July and praised actor Hungani, who joined the show at the time to portray the second Tbose Maputla.
TVSA reported that Skeem Saam trailed behind Uzalo which scored 5.3 million viewers on the channel, followed by Generations with 4.1 million viewers.

However South Africans have taken to social media to complain about the SABC1 soapie’s unfinished, repetitive storylines and unpopular actors and characters leading the soapie.
Soapie fans are calling writers of the show amateurs and believe the soapie will lose more viewers in 2024 when it’s moved from its 18:30 timeslot to 19:30, where it will compete against e.tv’s most-watched soapie, Scandal!

@Maritza_Ritzie: “Can’t we all boycott #SkeemSaam after the wedding. These writers have no respect for their viewers.”
@Ondegabeats: “SABC content update… Who writes #SkeemSaam? The writing is just disrespectful to the viewers honestly… Ae Leeto killed and saved the community, but he could be arrested for it, Lizzy says her mom sabotaged her, but the story was explained, uncle sent to the wrong account.”
