SABC manager allegedly plots attack on presenter — including plans to torch his car

The SABC has parted ways with a manager who was accused of allegedly plotting attacks on a popular presenter.

It is alleged that the two were not in good terms and the axed manager was bent on making the presenter’s life miserable.

That is according to some report in the highly reputable Sunday newspaper City Press.

The paper alleges that the senior manager was given his marching orders after a disciplinary hearing was held.

However, Borentsi Mooko, now ex-Sesotho news bulletin editor at the SABC’s headquarters in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, opted for early retirement after being confronted by the head of news.

It is reported that a leaked audio is what led to the axing and the audio recording was made viral.

Lefu Mokhoto, Mooko’s co-accused and now former news bulletin writer at SABC, has been fired in connection with the incident.

It is stated that tensions were high and the working environment between them wasno longer conducive.

Their intended target was Sesotho news presenter Tshediso Mahloane, who has since opened a case at the Brixton police station.

Police were not quoted in the article but it is reported that a report was made.

Mooko allegedly suspected Mahloane — who she had recruited from Lesedi FM earlier this year — of being a spy planted to have her ousted from the SABC. She also accused Mahloane of witchcraft.

Details are still sketchy at the moment but investigations have opened the can of worms.

The audio recording has been handed over to the police, and Mooko can reportedly be heard informing Mokhoto of her suspicions.

All this is contained in the Sunday edition of City Press newspaper.

According to the report, Mokhoto says “the boys” must beat Mahloane up, burn his car, and “close his eyes.”

Both the accused did not give their side of the story.
