ACTRESS SUZANNE SOMERS DEAD AT 76
Page Six broke the news that Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers has passed away following her battle with cancer. She was 76 years old at the time of her death and passed away just a day before her 77th birthday.
“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Oct. 15. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” said longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay to Page Six.
“Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband, Alan [Hamel], her son, Bruce, and her immediate family,” he continued.
The publicist noted that the star’s family planned on gathering to celebrate her 77th birthday on Monday.
“Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly. A private family burial will take place this week, with a memorial to follow next month,” he added.
The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in her 50s after battling skin cancer when she was in her 30s and hyperplasia in her 20s.
WHO DOES THE ACTRESS LEAVE BEHIND?
Suzanne leaves behind her husband, Alan Hamel. She also leaves behind her son Bruce junior, who she shared with her ex-husband Bruce Somers.
The actress announced that her breast cancer returned and praised her husband in an Instagram post in July.
“As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down. I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter,” she wrote.
