Introduction

After a string of high-profile shootings in Johannesburg, South Africa’s police have found themselves under increased scrutiny for their handling of crime in the city. At around 00h30 on Sunday, the police were notified of a shooting incident at the intersection of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive.

Two persons were killed and one was critically injured in this shooting. The deceased is believed to be from Botswana.

 

Rozario Hlope was known as the creator of the Tshwane-aired program Mashaedi on the Engage. The renowned Deejay achieved fame and recognition on a national level in 2018 after releasing the song Monate Mpolaye. In addition, he released a number of albums that were well received and helped him become successful in the music industry. His albums include Ashi Nthwela and Larger Than House (Vol. 1 & 2).

DJ Sumbody, a pioneer of Amapiano and a music producer, has passed away. In the wee hours of this morning in Johannesburg, Oupa John Sefoka passed away.

Although his family claims that more information about his passing is still ambiguous, unsubstantiated rumors suggest he was shot and died.
His family has requested privacy at this trying time and will issue a statement as soon as possible. In due course, specifics of the funeral and memorial ceremony will also be made known.
