RIP : Condolences pour in to musician, Yvonne Chaka Chaka

Messages of condolences are pouring in for South African singer and songwriter, Yvonne Chaka Chaka on the loss of her mother.

The 58-year old singer, dubbed the “Princess of Africa” shared news of her mother’s passing with her followers on Instagram a few hours ago.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka mourns the loss of her motherYvonne Chaka Chaka has been at the forefront of South African popular music for 35 years and has made her mark in Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Gabon, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.

The singer whose real name is Yvonne Machaka became the first black teenager to be profiled on local television in 1981 when she appeared on the talent show, Sugar Shack.

With her hit tracks Thank You Mr DJ, Every Woman Needs A Man and Motherland, Yvonne went on to become one of SA’s top selling artists.
