It is with great sadness to announce the sad passing of Nompumelelo Dorcas Jafta, she sadly lost her life in hospital after suffering a short illness at the tender age of 87.

She’s going to be laid to rest on the 18th of January 2023. Political parties such as the African National Congress as well as the Democratic Alliance are deeply saddened to lose a great leader like her, a lady with a lot of beautiful values may she rest in peace.

She was well known by her nickname Professor Maj, she was the first black lecturer at the University of Fort Hare, and she was a game changer who opened new doors of opportunities to women across the nation may her beautiful soul rest in peace.

I would like to use this opportunity to send my deepest condolences to the family of Nompumelelo, she was a strong-willed woman. it’s such a great to the country to the country.
