Springboks player Elton Jantjies has had his fair share of critics relating to criticism of his life on and off the pitch. He also has several supporters, one unlikely one being Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela.

 

 
Jantjies has made headlines over the past year for all the wrong reasons, ranging from an alleged extramarital affair to a doping scandal.This week, Elton Jantjies broke his silence on his rollercoaster year full of public scandals.

Speaking to MailOnline, the famous flyhalf reflected on fearing for his life after several “threats from thugs” over money owed to a former sports agent.

He also touched on his stint at rehab, which he claims was for “medical” reasons, and his relationship with his wife, Iva, who he described as a “strong woman.”

In recent weeks, Elton hinted at his state of mind in several Instagram posts.“Not done yet,” he captioned a pic of him wearing the Springboks kit. “My life”, he shared of a pic of his three children with his wife, Iva Ristic.

But while some rugby fans have dragged Elton, others have shared words of support.

“Revive the resilient spirit,” Moroka Swallows Steve Kompela shared in the comments section of a recent post.

Elton’s mom, Elma, also shared encouraging words. “God will continue to love and bless you. I love you, son.”Over the past year and a half, Elton Jantjies has made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
