Wiseman Mncube gained to prominence after portraying Sbonelo (Babo) Mhlongo in the SABC 1 soapie Uzalo. On Uzalo, Sbonelo was a medical doctor who resigned after secretly killing Nsizwa; he is Nkunzi and Gabisile’s biological son. Sbonelo married two wives during the course of the novel and later divorced both of them. Babo traded in his stethoscope for a life of crime, from taking over his father’s criminal network through jewelry and narcotics heists.

Wiseman is a multi-talented individual who can be found in the studio composing music or working in the community doing development and social work when he is not on the Uzalo cast plotting his next theft.

Wiseman, like Sibonelo, is an academic in real life; in 2011, he received a Diploma in Drama and Film Production from the Durban University of Technology.

Sibonelo supports family on Uzalo, and he is a father of two in real life as Wiseman. After the death of his first daughter, Lwandle Mncube, he raised her as a single father.

“I promised I’d do everything I could to raise Lwandle in a holy and responsible manner. I don’t want her to have the impression that she only has one parent. I lavish her with affection and make it a point to spend all of my spare time with her.”

Wiseman has done a variety of parts on television over the years, with his first appearance being in the etv series The Kingdom, when he played Mfanufikile. On Generations, he played Skhalo, and on eHostela, he played Jama.
