South African artist Rasta The Artist — real name Lebani Thaka David Sirenje — has become quite popular over the years. This is because his portraits — which are usually tributes to local legends — have a way of making people laugh. He has once again left many tickled pink after he decided to paint the viral Albany bread girl who went viral after she was captured buying the bread by a local photographer.

 

 

As usual, many in the comment section mocked Rasta over his work which to their standards is subpar.

Three-year-old Lethukukhanya Mjaji aka the Albany girl, has stolen million of hearts with a simple photograph.

Lethukukhanya, who was photographed while walking from the local shop with a loaf of Albany bread by Lungisani Mjaji went viral after the photo was shared on social media.

Not long afterwards, the Tiger Brands company was on her doorstep bearing gifts such as a gas stove for her mom, some blankets, lunch boxes and hampers.Deciding to strike while the story is still trending, popular local artist Rasta decided to recreate the viral photo using a blank canvas and his paint brushes.

Heading to Twitter, he shared snaps of his work which he captioned, “Imihla lemihla sicelane isinkwa sangemihla yonke. Lethukukhanya siyabonga uthando lenjabulo (Every day, we give each other daily bread.. Lethukukhanya, we thank you for our light, love and happiness.)

“Beautiful to see our African brothers and young sisters telling original African stories through art.”
