He has a predilection for painting the dead, from South Africa down to the United Kingdom, but with the Rainbow Nation as his main canvas. On that count, it wasn’t surprising that Rasta should decide to paint Mpho Sebeng.

Mpho Sebeng was a South African actor who perished in a car accident recently, leaving the film industry in grief.

 

 

As is traditional with him, soon after he received news of Sebeng’s death, Rasta decided to make a painting of the late actor. The only thing is that, like in his previous paintings of the dead, the latest painting left his compatriots unimpressed and even angry.

Rasta’s painting are often mocked as caricatures asnd not paintings at all, with some people advising him to stop painting because he is manque at best – an artist with no skill so to speak.

But those negative statements have not discouraged him. He went ahead with the painting of Sebeng and has been receiving lashes from the public ever since. They feel his painting of the late actor is so mediocre as to be an insult to his memory. See the painting below and decide for yourself.
