Tatjana is a commonwealths Game Champion. According to The Citizen, Tatjana won gold in the 100m and 200m breaststroke finals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia.

Before Joel, the Olympic swimmer was reportedly in a relationship with fellow swimmer Ruan Ras.Tatjana earned a Bcom in financial sciences at the University of Pretoria.
