‘R10 million’: Nonhle Thema on losing money, deals, and more

South African media personality Nonhle Thema was interviewed in the latest episode of Unfollowed on Wednesday, 13 September and got candid about what led to her being cancelled by the industry.

NONHLE THEMA ON WHY SHE GOT CANCELLED BY THE INDUSTRY
Nonhle Thema was the “it” girl in the early 2000s. She hosted huge shows at the time such as OAccess, V Entertainment, as well as having secured numerous huge endorsement deals like the one she had with Dark & Lovely. She also had her own reality TV show called Nonhle Goes to Hollywood and more.

However, after a cringe social media rant, she was dropped by several brands and lost everything.

“I was fired many times, not just once. I’ve been fired. It happened just so quickly with everything and everyone,” she said in an older interview.

She was recently interviewed on Showmax’s Unfollowed by the show’s host Thembekile Mrototo and opened up once more about why she got cancelled by the industry.

“It was a battle of myself, my ego and my pride. I found myself fighting people. It was for respect. I thought this was the only way that I could get this respect because I needed to step up and have people fear me, it was as if I could not even put my phone down,” TshisaLIVE quoted her as saying.

MORE ABOUT THE MEDIA PERSONALITY’S INTERVIEW
According to the publication, during the Unfollowed interview, Nonhle Thema also admitted to having placed herself on a high horse at the time and let her ego get in her way.

“I was so full of myself and self-absorbed at that time. I was such a horrible person. I became a monster right in front of myself and in front of the world. I lost a lot of endorsements, and that means I kind of lost money, maybe 10 million in one go,” she was quoted as saying.
