Famous former Uzalo actor who has been nominated at Simon Mabhunu Sabela Film & Television Awards, Siyabonga Shibe says he won’t be making a return on this show though he has scored a nomination for his role as Qhabanga.

 

 

 

 

 
Qhabanga was last seen in March when he was moving from KwaMashu after he was hit by guilty conscience of murdering Gabisile (played by Baby Cele). Gabisile has returned to Uzalo.

‘I don’t see an opportunity for me returning back to Uzalo for now. I am busy shooting a film at Nanda, i think this is one of the films that many people will love. There’s another show called ‘The Wife’ which I’ve produced together with Uzalo creators Stained Glass. This shows how much interest they have on my work. There’s a lot of other things that I’m currently busy with.’

Siyabonga is nominated for Best Actor, where he is competing against Wiseman Mncube(Uzalo), Thobani Nzuza (eHostela) and Mavuso Magubane from Durban Gen. He mentioned that he is happy to receive a nomination as this shows that people enjoy the work he has done.

‘I know that this is something that’s always said but a nomination means a lot and winning is just a bonus. We have been laughing towards this because i am friends with all the people I’m competing against in this category, it doesn’t matter who wins as we encourage each other. We all wish to win but being nominated on it’s own means a lot. I always say the amount of love people show towards your work is bigger than the reward itself, yet there are people who win while they haven’t done anything exciting at all.’ Stated Siyabonga Shibe.
