Police have released a new update on AKA’s murder with the Kwazulu Natal commisioner, Leutenant general Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi talking to Newzroom Afrika.
“From the evidence we have collected we have no doubt that AKA’s murder was an assassination. From what we have seen as the police, two criminals walk across the street. One criminal crosses the road first and stands by the side. The other walked behind a car and then shot AKA behind his ear. He shot only AKA, he did not shoot the friend that was with AKA. He shot AKA twice and ran away.
The first criminal who had sat by the side earlier then fired a couple of shots. Unfortunately, one of the man’s bullets struck AKA’s friend and he also succumbed to his injuries. We know that the aim of the first criminal was to kill AKA while the second criminal could have killed anyone because he fired multiple shots. Anyone who was in the way could have died.
Mkhwanazi revealed that the police have not arrested anyone as of yet. He says the release of CCTV footage on social media provide a risk to the investigation. He also added that they are trying to piece everything together and they are sure that AKA had an enemy behind him. He said that police are aware of an incident that happened in Cape Town that might have angered people. He says that their investigation will include all the people at the scene. He added that when the people of KZN are angry they resort to shooting each other.
