Police Impound Toyota Corolla Car Overloaded with Luggages at Beitbridge

The residents of South Africa have been encouraged on several occasions to safety precautions when using the South African routes in order to save their lives and that of others, but some individuals have shown little or no interest in doing so.

The issue has been a serious problem that our government is yet to deal with despite all the effort made so far by security operatives to enforce such laws. Some motorists still prefer to engage in reckless driving and moving about in overloaded vehicles.

Just yesterday, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department clamp down on a vehicle that was moving from South Africa to Zimbabwe via the Beitbridge border route.

Officers on duty were left in total disbelief after seeing a small Toyota Corolla Car overloaded with luggages and goods. The officers impounded the car and discontinued driver from proceeding with his journey.

The officers issued the driver of the vehicle a fine for disregarding the safety of other motorists and National Road Traffic Act Regulations.

This was contained in a statement released by Joburg Metro Police Department on Twitter and it reads:

“This is illegal and total disregard for the safety of other motorists and the National Road Traffic Act regulations.

The vehicle was discontinued (unroadworthy with 3 defects) and a fine issued for overloading by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department operations officers”.
