Football is meant to unite different people across all ages, nationalities and ethnic groups. It can be used as some sort of mending mechanism in today’s challenges, since a lot people are going through the worst things in their lives. One could say that football and philonthropy goes hand-in-hand, depending at how you view the sport and humanity. Now, the Orlando Pirates supporters have decided to do something amazing with regards to their late star’s mother who has been left in the dark following the death of his son Senzo Meyiwa. In what seems to be a cold case which hasn’t resolved years later and this has affected Meyiwa’s mother beyond imagination as he wants justice to be served.
The former Bafana goalkeeper was shot and killed October 2014 at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo granny’s place. It’s believed that it was robbery gone wrong at Vosloorus whereby the late Meyiwa was last seen alive, then after that his family has been put under immense stress and trauma since his murderers are still roaming the streets of Mzansi. Even though there has been arrests made by the police, but nothing seems clear to his fans and family members.
Hence, the Pirates hopefuls has decided to visit Meyiwa’s home at Umlazi, Durban and they brought her a gift as they’re still in tears for what happened to Sea Robbers goalie. This time around Ntombifuthi Meyiwa was showed unconditional love from different people. As they also want to know that she’s not alone in this quest of finding the killers of hee son. “We also want to make sure any business initiative she is starting we support her to show that we still love her as Pirates fans we are coming from eThekwini Region with 22 branches in this initiative we partnered with some branches from Gauteng and other provinces,” said Branch leader Thabani T-man Shandu speaking to the media.
