People no longer reject their sangoma calling solely on the basis of their age. There is a common misconception that only the elderly can get a sangoma calling and that children are too young. Many of the young people who answered the phone were embarrassed since they were so young.

 

 

 

 

Given the negative connotations associated with the term “sangomas.” In the past, teens were concerned that their social standing might suffer if they committed to the Calling.
