Zonke Mchunu (born 12 October 1992) is a South African actress, dancer, and singer best known for her starring role as Imani Nkosi in the SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango. She co-stars with MacDonald Ndou Gabriel Temudzani, Dingaan Mokebe, Maumela Mahuwa, Hangwani Ramakuwela, and Liteboho Molise.
The 27-year-old actress was born in Kwamaphumulo, a small hamlet in KwaZulu-Natal. Zonke studied acting and theater at the Durban University of Technology after completing her matriculation. But she didn’t begin her studies in acting there; she originally went to Berea Tech to study Civil Engineering, but due to financial difficulties at home, she was unable to complete her degree.
Zonke Mchunu had no intention of becoming an actor when she was younger; all she wanted to do was dance. In an interview with the Daily Sun, Zonke stated that she was unable to dance due to a lack of possibilities in her community. She used to imitate Jika Majika and Sarafina by watching them dance.
