Zoleka took the surname Mandela from her mother Zindziswa, and she gave all her children the surname. According to African cultures, a man is the head of a family and all members of a family must be defined by his Surname. Both males and females must take their father’s Surnames, especially males because if they take their mother’s Surname a whole tribe will be lost.

All the children born from any of Mandela’s children take the surname Mandela. Zoleka recently gave birth to baby number Six and she is a Mandela. People are still questioning why are her children Mandelas? People think there’s no need for Zoleka to give her her babies the Mandelas surname.
