Partially blind Orlando Pirates former star mourns tragic death of his older sister

Former Orlando Pirates number one goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo who enjoyed a successful six year spell at the club between 2011 and 2017 has revealed the tragic death of his older sister, Pretty Shannon Mhlongo.


 

 

 

The former Orlando Pirates jersey number 1 who was part of their 2011/12 treble triumphant winning squad recently took to his official social media account where he announced the sad news.

On Thursday, former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo who was forced to retire from football in July 2021 due to an eye injury which left him partially blind during his spell at now defunct Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila has revealed that he is mourning after the sudden death of his older last week Thursday, 25 May 2023, at aged 43.

The former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper has taken to his Instagram stories where he shared a poster of her sister’s funeral details where he revealed that she will be laid to rest this coming Saturday on 3 June 2023 at the Rocky’s Drift Cemetery at 11:00am.

As part of his caption, the one time league winner with Orlando Pirates wrote, “Only God can heal our hearts”.

According to his player profile on German website 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘵, the 32 year old Soweto born retired footballer turned business owner conceded 71 goals during his playing days at Orlando Pirates and he kept 18 clean sheets.
