Nothing scandalous about Kgomotso Christopher leaving soapie

Kgomotso Christopherhe feisty character was not only a hit with fans but also won her two prestigious South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) for the past two years.

“A lot of times we have to wake ourselves up from our comfort zone. Good endings are never easy – it’s easier to walk away from a place you hated,” Christopher says.

“I always say this to people: we are not getting any younger and South Africa has a very small industry.

“We all know even internationally as female actors that you have a very short span of your work. It’s not to be negative but one has to be realistic and have perspective.

“For me it’s something I have thought of for a while in evaluating where I would like to go in the next few years.”

Christopher didn’t have anything lined up when she decided to quit the show. While you would expect that her phone was ringing off the hook with new job offers, she says that wasn’t the case.

She went back to auditioning immediately after resigning from the show in December.

“I have been auditioning for things before the announcement was made a month ago.

“I have been doing a lot of auditions and that’s why you must have a plan. I’ve been lucky that the minute I avail myself mentally and spiritually in terms of my career, a new opportunity comes.”

After countless auditions Christopher has landed the gig in Legacy. She will star opposite Michelle Botes, who is renowned for her villainous role as Cherel de Villiers in Isidingo.

Happy birthday 🎂🎉 to Kwela Tebza’s Tebogo Lerole.

The Kwela Tebza member took to social media to relate the experience: “Some of them wanted me killed and some of them wanted to put me in the boot of the car and Lord knows what intentions they had. Seven to eight boys jumped into the car while I tried wrestling one of the guys who wanted to stab me, two other guys jumped in the brawl and their intention was now to take my clothes,” he said.Tebogo has since forgiven the perpetrators.ربما تحتوي الصورة على: ‏‏شخص واحد‏، ‏‏وقوف‏‏‏

“After talking to family and friends I have forgiven all the young men who almost took my life, but I will never forget what they put me through. I am thankful to my creator for protecting me on Sunday morning… crime is real in South Africa, stay alert at all times because crime doesn’t sleep,” he added.

Happy birthday 🎂🎉 to Lady Zamar.

This past weekend, a story broke about house music sensation Lady Zamar opening a rape case against musician ex-boyfriend Sjava.

Although the case was opened last November, media only got wind of it recently. The response to Lady Zamar’s allegations was ربما تحتوي الصورة على: ‏‏شخص واحد‏، ‏‏نشاطات في أماكن مفتوحة‏‏‏devastating, albeit not shocking. Multitudes of social media users launched attacks on the young woman, accusing her of being an attention-seeker and being hell-bent on destroying the career of the BET-award winning Sjava.ربما تحتوي الصورة على: ‏‏شخص واحد‏، ‏‏وقوف‏‏‏

I wish I could claim to be shocked by this response – but I am not. The script is so familiar that had the public’s response deviated from it, had people rallied behind Lady Zamar, I would have been utterly stunned.

I remember when sexual abuse allegations against Bill Cosby came out, multitudes of people rallied behind him, contending that he was a victim of a smear campaign by a white America that was deeply invested in destroying black men.

Mzansi not impressed by Zodwa Wabantu not social distancing

Zodwa Wabantu. Picture: Instagrams Zodwa Wabantu playing with her life?

Well, social media users certainly think so. This comes after the reality TV star posted pictures of herself out and about in Durban.

In one picture, Zodwa is seen shopping on Durban’s popular Dr Pixley Kaseme (formerly West Street) Street buying fruit from a street vendor.

Zodwa is seen not wearing a mask while shopping and is standing very close to the vendor.

She captioned the picture: “he smiles, I smile”.

In another picture, she is posing next to maskandi musician, Senzo Ntencane Zondi outside The Workshop, which is a shopping centre in the Durban CBD.

Although her Instagram followers commended her for supporting the informal sector, many asked her why she was not wearing a mask which was mandatory and why she was not practising social distancing regulations.

“Wearing a mask is very crucial” said one follower while another said, “Gal what’s the point of separating when your body is touching his body????”.

Another follower commented with, “Social distancing???? Not even a ting.”

This was revealed on Tuesday afternoon by the tattoo artist and Mihlali herself, who tweeted that she was “happy” about her new tiger tattoo on her calf.

Many social media users felt she was being irresponsible.

Shauwn Mkhize, Babalwa Mneno and Amanda du Pont have also been called out for attending parties during the lockdown and not observing the social distancing rules that the government have put in place to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
