Leon Schuster’s movies taken down

Leon Schuster and AlfredSouth African streaming service Showmax has followed in the global trend of removing and reviewing content that may be considered racially insensitive. The move has seen popular South African filmmaker Leon Schuster‘s movies taken down from the streaming platform.

According to a report by Netwerk24 six of the comedian’s film, such as Mama Jack, which Schuster used blackface in, and Mr. Bones, have been removed and are being reviewed.

Black Lives Matter is currently once again a very hot topic across the world as the conversations about the treatment of black people are being brought to light and addressed.

Head of communication for Showmax, Richard Boorman confirmed to Netwerk24 that several films have been removed from the streaming service as they review content that could be racially insensitive.The famous filmmaker speaking to Netwerk24 said that he was “shocked” and “can’t believe that the content of his films does any harm”. Schuster in a previous interview had said that he would not go blackface again as it’s just racist.

On Twitter, the 69-year-old has been trending with many weighing over whether his films should be considered racist or pure entertainment.

Actress Rami Chuene has lifted the lid on being a victim of fraud, claiming that someone in America was living their best life with her bank card.

The actress shared the news of the scam on Twitter after a tweep spoke about detecting some fraudulent activity on her bank account.

While the tweep expressed her fears of the possibility of not getting her money back, Rami pitched in sharing her recent scam story.

Rami explained how she was not aware someone in America was spending her money for an entire month.

She also revealed how the person spent about R5,500 buying fried chicken, pizza and kitchenware.

Fortunately for Rami, she got all her money back as she was able to prove she was in SA the whole time.
Talking on another “scam”, back in April Rami shared her frustration about “con artists” in the entertainment industry using the Covid-19 lockdown as an excuse not to pay talent.

Taking to Twitter, Rami claimed dodgy practices in the industry, at the time when the lockdown was implemented, had artists’ money “on lockdown too”.

Sharing an example of how artists were being played, Rami wrote: “Due to the lockdown, we were not able to process payment for the invoice you submitted in November 2019.”

Does Somizi Owe The Nation An Apology?

South African media personality, Somizi, was put on blast on Instagram, after the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka called him out. In a video shared on Thursday, 18 June 2020, Somizi was seen munching away at his lunch, which appeared to comprise a monstrous sandwich. The media star danced and sang with joy as he scuffed down his meal whilst showing off each bite to the camera.

Thereafter, Yvonne immediately commented on the image, claiming that she had planned a date with Somizi, to which he did not show up to. She stated, “Wena man. I am angry with you. We had a date today.”

Fans immediately jumped in support of Yvonne, scolding Somizi on his misdemeanour. One follower stated, “Why did you keep our mom waiting? Not cool!”, whilst another added to the conversation with, “You owe the nation apology, imagine you stood the whole MaDlamini up? A national treasure”. Somizi is yet to comment back on the post.

Papa Penny: I Am Not A Rich Man!

Papa Penny has come out guns-blazing to set the records straight that, he is not rich. This follows after on the latest episode of his hit reality show Papa Penny Ahee, the musician booked himself a business class flight, whilst his wife and daughter flew with an economy flight.

Avid watchers of the show labeled him as a toxic husband, who is slightly abusive towards his wife.

Speaking to Daily Sun the reality show star made it clear that he is not rich, and if this is an issue to some people, then they must give him money to book expensive flights next time.

“People must mind their own business. I’m not a rich man. Why do people expect me to buy business class tickets for everyone? People like complaining”, he told Daily Sun.

He said he paid for 60 people for the trip, including his family, and they did not even complain.

“The trip wasn’t cheap. I paid for 60 people, including my family and the crew. All this came from my pocket. My family don’t mind and they don’t complain.”

“If this is such an issue for them, then they should give me money” he said.
