Serious trouble at Uzalo – Actors Thulani and Godfather fired, MaNgcobo and Qhabanga fight with producers

SABC 1 telenovela Uzalo‘s behind the scenes drama would no doubt make better TV than most of the prime-timeshow’s episodes.

And this time around, SA’s favourite production’s saga involves it losing key cast members.

According to insiders Thulane Shange (Thulani) had become a distant memory on Uzalo’s set, with his onscreen ghost set living out the last of its appearances in the TV show.

He stopped shooting two weeks ago, the sources said, When called for comment, Thulane confirmed the breaking news.“Im currently jobless and looking for work. Be that it may, I didn’t leave on bad terms.’ It’s just that my storyline came to an end and yes my last shoot was indeed two weeks ago.”“My contract was originally set to expire in October, but the lockdown period affected the telenovela’s plot, Life is hard, but I keep myself busy by helping musician and Gqom star, Mampintsha with his music videos.”Another source said the producers also pulled the plug on Sizwe Khumbuza (Godfather) When called for comment Sizwe referred all inquiries to Uzalo.

Sizwe was also recruited by Mampintsha for the same video shoot.

” At Uzalo actora are told there are many people who want their jobs, It’s as if they are being done a favor for working there. Truth is, they are the reason the Telenovela is number one .” another mole said.

Actors Dawn Thandeka-King (MaNgobo) and Siyabonga Shibe(Qhabanga) were said to be living on borrowed time as Uzalo’s producers would allegedly get rid of them soon.

“She was very close to one of the directors who left Uzalo for Imbewu, Since the directors’s departure, things have been hard for her.

“Remember how GC (Khaya Dladla) was booted? It will be the same with Dawn. She’ll also be told she will get a call when she is needed.

Siyabonga also complained about his salary.

“It’s not clear how he will exit, All I know is that his job is on the line”, a close source said.

When contacted for comment Shibe said he does not know anything, Thandeka was not available for comment.

There was no response from Uzalo’s publicist Nonfundo Zondi.

“These two are no longer in the producers good books because they made the mistake of asking for a salary increase.Dawn is, in fact, among the actors who have a dark cloud hanging over their head, her attitude recently isn’t doing her any favour, She makes the writers and directors’ job difficult because she sometime demands to change the storylines.”Uzalo cast

Mzansi stars feature in trailer for Beyoncé’s upcoming film ‘Black Is King’

Beyoncé. Picture: TwitterSeveral South African stars made an appearance in the trailer for Beyoncé’s upcoming film “Black Is King” dropping on July 31 on Disney+.

“Black Is King” is most likely a visual film based of “The Gift” album and the trailer features well known Mzansi stars such as Connie Chiume, Nandi Madida, Nyaniso Dzedze, Warren Masemola and “My Power” collaborator Moonchild Sanelly.

Details about the film by Beyoncé is still unknown, however, rumours about the “Black Parade” singer shooting visuals for The Gift started floating around last year.

Watch the trailer below:Speaking about “The Gift” last year on “Good Morning America”, Beyoncé wanted to make sure it was “produced by the best African producers” and said that “authenticity and heart were important” to her.

The “Spirit” singer said previously: “This is sonic cinema. This is a new experience of storytelling…

“I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound.

“It is influenced by everything from R&B, hip-hop and Afro Beats. I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline.

“Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.

“It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”

South African tweeps shared their excitement online seeing so many familiar faces.

Kwezi Ndlovu shares her experience of shooting during Covid-19

Kwezi Ndlovu

The actress was busy shooting for the new season when the pandemic struck, and production halted.

After losing out on the opportunity to audition for many roles, she’s back on set.

“It’s been a few weeks that we’re back in set and are trying to keep up with the new rules and regulations. It was introduced to us in a way that made us understand the pandemic and why we need to adjust,” said the former “The Herd” actress.

There are many changes that have happened in the working environment for productions, including wearing a mask all day and keeping a two metre distance between cast and crew.

“We now have to carry your own personal items to avoid sharing and spreading of the virus; we sanitize before walking into any department; we have r temperatures checked and are not allowed to touch each other except on set once we have sanitized thoroughly,” she said.

She is also taking precautions by taking her vitamins every morning and night which helps to boost her immune system.

“I’m not scared of being on set, but I have changed in the workplace because of Covid- 19. I no longer touch people or come close to them. I keep my distance and have conversations from a safe distance. I no longer hug and kiss to greet people, instead I wave or greet with my elbow. I also carry my own water bottle to avoid many people touching and sharing it with me,” she said.

Mentally she said the pandemic has not affected the way she works on set.

“I’ve just had to do minor adjustments here and there to accommodate the current situation but mentally, the way I work has not been affected.”
