Actress Linda Sebezo encourages her fans not to take life for granted.

Veteran actress Linda Sebezo has opened up about the devastating economic impact Covid-19 has had on her life, that saw her survive off her mother’s pension.

The star told TshisaLIVE in an interview this week that she was disappointed at how the government has treated artists during the pandemic.

She said that she applied for the department of sports, arts and culture’s Covid-19 relief fund.

The fund was launched in March, pledging R150m to help artists and athletes hit hard by Covid-19.

“We were told to apply for a relief fund only to find out that I don’t qualify. My heart was bleeding. I’m a taxpayer and I don’t owe tax. On the other hand I had to pay fees for my daughter who attends a private institution and I didn’t have money to pay for her then.”The actress explained that she is a call actor, who works different jobs to make ends meet. She had just joined the cast of Mzansi Magic’s eHostela and was busy with several projects when life came to a standstill during the lockdown.

“I’m a single mother who juggles different jobs to put bread on the table. I do roadshows on Saturdays and shoot Isibaya and eHostela.

“I work hard every month to raise R40,000 to pay my bond, car, and school fees. All of a sudden everything got stuck. My heart was very heavy when I saw my mom buying bread for us.”

Now she cherishes every moment she gets with her children and said she is taking things one day at a time.

“When I get home from work I spend two hours with my children and they understand that I need to prepare for tomorrow’s shoot. When I’m off, I cook for them and spend time with them by playing games.”

I have grown to love acting so much,” the actress tells us. “It is a very enjoyable thing to do – doing something you are passionate about – and has been a great teacher for me. I never expected to act at the level I’m at right now. I get to go on set and do something that challenges me to be better than I was the day before.”

She had a disagreement with her son three months ago and he ran away from home.

The 17-year-old is now playing house with a 37-year-old woman.
And when his mum went to fetch him, he refused to go home with her.

The 47-year-old mum from Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, told Daily Sun: “He told me he was happy where he was.

“Neighbours told us my son was the man of that house.”She said they tried talking to the sugar mama about kicking the boy out of her house, but she didn’t.

The mum said she went to the cops, but they kept telling her they didn’t have police vans.

She said she was terrified the woman might be abusing her sonThe sugar mama’s neighbour told the People’s Paper the boy was not the first one to live with the woman.

She accused her of preying on young men.

“Different boys have been living with her since her boyfriend left,” said the neighbour.

She said the boy was also in charge of the sugar mama’s bank cards.

When the SunTeam visited the sugar mama, she denied being in a relationship with the minor.

She said the boy was her son’s friend and ended up staying with her after he visited and stayed until late.She then suggested he stay a night and leave in the morning.

“He never left. I told him to go home when his mother came for him.

“He left, but didn’t go to his mother’s house. He only comes to my house to visit,” she said.

However, she admitted the boy keeps her bank cards as she sends him to the shops.

Gauteng police spokesman, Captain Kay Makhubele, said it would be difficult to get involved as there was no case opened.

He advised the boy’s mother to involve social workers.

Nkosi will be joining the show to play the role of the new cop Jaros.

According to a reliable crew member, Nkosi will play the role of a new cop that replaces actor Mlami Mangcala after he was booted from the show.“With Jerry’s funeral coming up soon, Nkosi’s character is slowly introduced to the show as the new cop in town replacing Captain Sthembiso Radebe” said the crew member.

Last month, Mangcala, who played the character of Captain Sthembiso Radebe, accused the couple, Connie and Shona Ferguson, of being masters of deception and blasted the producers on social media.
