I was once a plantain hawker –Biodun Okeowo

I was once a plantain hawker –Biodun OkeowoLike some other celebrities, Biodun Okeowo popularly known as Omoborty in Nollywood, has had her fair share of hard life.

The single mother of two, who has over the years grown thick skin to criticisms, says she is elated that those who didn’t believe in her dream some years back, are now trying hard to be in her good books.

“I believe in hard work. Keep grinding, one day the people that don’t believe in you will tell everyone how they met you. Don’t relent; just keep pushing. I was once a plantain hawker. I didn’t allow my past to determine my future. My haters are at my back, they are likened to my problems, which are also at my back, but Holy Ghost is solely behind me,” she noted.

Boosie Badazz Says R. Kelly Has More Hits Than Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder

Bossie Badazz believes that R. Kelly is the greatest hitmaker of all time and says no other artist can hold a candle to the R&B singer.

There are plenty of industry professionals who are turning their backs on R. Kelly as his sexual abuse cases roll forward. Even so, both fans and Kelly’s collaborators are finding it difficult to separate the man from the accusations that have plagued the singer for decades. Prosecutors allege that the singer has been involved in sex trafficking and child pornography, but the world will have to wait to learn the outcome of his criminal cases. Boosie Badazz is a fan of the incarcerated singer and during a recent interview, he had quite a bit to say about Kelly’s placement in the industry.

My close shave with death, actress Ngozi Nwosu

After almost losing her life to a kidney illness some years ago, veteran actress, Ngozi Nwosu has revealed how she had another close shave with death a few months ago.My close shave with death –Ngozi Nwosu

In a recent Instagram interview with Chude Jideonwo, the star of Fuji House of Commotion narrated her ordeal, saying;“After a shoot that fateful day, I went into my room to get water from the fridge, and that was it. I fell and blanked out. When I regained consciousness, I thought it was just a minor thing until I tried to get up and walk. I kept telling myself ‘Ngozi get up and walk’ but I couldn’t. I was looking at my phone, yet I couldn’t call for help. I was like this could be the end of the road. I couldn’t really understand what happened. I couldn’t move my leg. It was stiff. I cried and cried. I couldn’t reach anyone to help out. Then, I went back to God and said, ‘If truly I serve you, this would not be the end of the road. Just give me the grace to get up and open the door for help’. I was lying there looking at myself helpless. After a while, the strength came from nowhere, I had to use my buttocks to crawl. Then I held unto the door, managed to open it, and then screamed. Help came and I passed out again,” she recalled.Reacting to the rumours that she had leukemia, the thespian stated, “Then I started hearing that I had leukemia. I was getting calls from everywhere. At a point, I had to ask myself again, ‘Ngozi are you sure you are alive?’ I know leukemia is cancer of the blood. I looked at myself and my hair is still intact, every part of me still intact. I just sat down and started crying. Well, that’s part of the prizes we have to pay as celebrities. In fact, the prize you pay to be a celebrity is too high. If I didn’t handle it the way I did then, it would have led me into depression.”

Wiley dropped by manager over anti-Semitic tweets

WileyGrime artist Wiley has been dropped by his management following anti-Semitic comments on his Twitter account.

His manager John Woolf said A-List Management has “cut all ties” after a long series of posts on Friday on accounts that belong to the rapper.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism has asked police to investigate and called for his accounts to be closed.

Wiley is known as the “Godfather of Grime” and received an MBE for services to music in 2018.

Tweets appeared over a number of hours on an unverified Twitter account in his name with more than 490,000 followers.

Wiley shared anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and insulted Jewish people.

In one tweet he said “I don’t care about Hitler, I care about black people”, and also compared the Jewish community to the Ku Klux Klan.

Mr Woolf confirmed the account belongs to the London-born rapper, 41, whose real name is Richard Cowie.

The manager wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning: “Following Wiley’s antisemitic tweets today we at A—ListMGMT have cut all ties with him. There is no place in society for antisemitism.”

The announcement came a few hours after he tweeted that he was “talking to him privately” and wanted to “educate”.

He also wrote: “I am also saying as someone who has known him for 12 years I know he does not truly feel this way.”

‘Deeply shocked and saddened’
In a subsequent statement, Mr Woolf said: “To be very clear here. I do not support or condone what Wiley has said today online in any way shape or form.

“I am a proud Jewish man and I am deeply shocked and saddened but what he has chosen to say.

“I am speaking to key figures in my community in light of today’s tweets. This behaviour and hateful speech is not acceptable to me.”

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said it had reported Wiley to the Met Police and asked Twitter and Facebook to close his accounts to “prevent further outpouring of anti-Jewish venom”.

“We consider that Wiley has committed the offence of incitement to racial hatred, which can carry a substantial prison sentence,” a statement read.

It added that it will contact the Cabinet Office to ask that Wiley’s MBE be revoked.

“Wiley has many hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and we have seen today that many of them truly believe the unhinged hatred that he is spreading,” the statement continued.

“We are treating this as a very serious matter which must be met with the firmest of responses.”

#BBNaija Day 5: The winning team, the near kisses, the “ships”, all that you missed

#BBNaija Day 5 of the recently launched season was about the near kisses, winning team, the “ships” and other juicy highlights you might have missed.

The first Betway Nigeria Trivia ended with a victory for Team Black

The Lockdown Housemates had their first-ever Friday Betway Nigeria Sports Trivia and Team Black emerged victoriously. This task was designed to test their knowledge about some popular sports and the Housemates put up a good show.

The Tension

Even though it was supposed to be a fun Trivia, things got heated as they played against each other. This being their first Trivia in the House and possibly the need to start off on a winning note must have put pressure on both teams. Voices were raised, arguments ensued as both teams weren’t ready to concede defeat to the other. The most visible outburst was between Wathoni and Ka3na both of opposing teams.

Just when it seemed as if calm had been restored, the outburst continued immediately the Trivia ended with Ka3na shouting that Wathoni had no right to call my name. Not stopping there, she issued a warning that she would come for whoever mentioned her name. A visibly shaken Wathoni kept to herself and refused to eat the meal Ka3na made.

After a long session, Team Black ended victorious with 19 points while Team White was able to garner 16 points. No reward was announced at the end of the Trivia, but there’s anticipation about what the winning Team would get as a reward when the time comes.

The kiss that wasn’t
It’s #BBNaija Day 5 already and why aren’t Eric and Lilo, and Neo and Vee locking lips?

When it comes to contracts, the deal isn’t sealed until its signed. In the Big Brother House, it’s not officially a ‘ship until lock lips are locked. Of the two possible relationships, neither of them have shared that magical moment where lips lock and ‘ships are officially launched.

Eric and Lilo

Since the early days, these two have been closer than fishermen and nets without catching the magic that leads to a kiss. Today was agonisingly close as the pair were lying in bed for the majority of the morning wrapped in each other’s arms. It seemed for the entire time that they would finally swap saliva, but all the holding, hugging, and head stroking lead to nothing but more waiting. It seems that Eric is still weighing up his options while Lilo looks so committed. Hopefully, they seal the deal soon.

Getting started

To start the Trivia, the Housemates were asked to divide themselves into two groups aptly named Team White and Team Black. HoH Nengi and Deputy HoH, Wathoni led Team White and Team Black respectively and took turns in selecting which Housemate belonged to their Teams.

Here’s how the Team leads selected

Team White: Nengi, Eric, Ka3na, Laycon, Lucy, Neo, Ozo, Praise, Tolanibaj, Vee.

Team Black: Wathoni, Bright, Dorathy, Erica, Lilo, Kaisha, Kiddwaya, Prince, Tochi, Trickytee.

Trivia Time

Each team took turns in nominating one person at a time that went up to the board and picked a card with the question to ask the opposing team. The opposing team also had to pick a person to answer after they had all deliberated on the question. Each team answered a total of 50 questions for the course of the Trivia.
