Kelly KhumaloSongstress Kelly Khumalo is set to light up our screens next Thursday when her highly anticipated reality show Life with Kelly Khumalo premiersKelly Khumalo

What would you never be caught wearing in public?

A wedge shoe. I hate it.

What is the number one destination on your bucket list?

There are a lot of them. Right now I would love to visit Morocco.

You’re on death row. What is your last meal?

I’ll probably have pizza. I’ve recently discovered that I love pizza and I love baking pizza.

What do you sleep in?

I like comfy pyjamas, mostly silk.

You wake up as a crayon. What colour are you?

Is there a gold one? I think I’ll be the gold one.

What’s your favourite hang-out spot in the world?

What’s your pet peeve?

I’m annoyed by a lot of things. But one that has been annoying me recently is the gender-based violence and the killings against women.

What message do you have for the South African public when it comes to gender-based violence?

There’s a lot to be said. There are a lot of women dying. I think it’s time to act. If we have to shut down the country, let’s do that. The same thing that we’ve applied to Covid-19, why can’t we apply it to gender-based violence? This is a serious matter that we need to attend to.

Kelly Khumalo

No one but myself.

What’s the last thing you do before going to bed at night?

I thank God for life.
Which is the one song you are embarrassed is on your playlist?

I don’t have any because I’m a musician and I find music just beautiful. It doesn’t matter what it means, where it’s from.

What’s the worst purchase you have ever made?

I don’t have one. I’m always very strict about what I buy. If I buy it, I actually want it.

What outfit in your closet do you wear the most?

I’ve recently realized that I’m wearing a lot of black tracksuits and sweaters. That’s what I wear a lot. Maybe because I’m not able to move around and I just want to be comfortable.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

It’s an emerald neck piece that a guy bought me a couple of years ago, a guy who was trying to ask me out. It was too much to be quite honest.

If you could switch bodies with anyone in the world, who would it be?

Actress Buhle Samuels has shared her heartbreak at seeing social grant recipients line up in groups to collect their money when they should be at home, trying to stay safe from Covid-19.

The star took to Twitter this week to criticise the government’s response to the pandemic, which has left the vulnerable still needing to go out and collect grants.

“It hurts me to see people lined up at the post office for their grants. I wish there was a better solution to the problem,” she said.

She added that the struggles of many South Africans just keep getting worse, with little remedy from those in power.

“Our people just have suffering upon suffering.”

In March, the former Muvhango actress offered to e-wallet R2,000 to people in need, including to some of the elderly unable to fetch their grants.Buhle Samuels could be considering having a baby if the lockdown continues.

“Let us help our elderly. I also encourage others to also take on this task to help. A small deed goes a long way. Sometimes we can’t do big things but the small things help too!” said Buhle.

The star also laid bare her thoughts on the coronavirus a few months ago, asking what we can all learn from the pandemic.

“I’m wondering about what we can take away from this virus. Do we actually need to go to offices to work? Of course some professions do but some are operating fine. Is it necessary to have people stuck in traffic stressed out and anxious? Can’t bosses come up with a more flexible way?” she asked.

A Twitter thread has gone viral after social media users shared their alleged experiences with some of Mzansi celebs, some good and some very funny considering the context.Bonang Matheba has jokingly asked Charlize to bring her character in 'The Old Guard' to come sort out the mess.

The apparent experiences were sparked by a screenshot of a fan who recalled a bad encounter with TV personality and media mogul Bonang Matheba. The user, @Helena_sifa_ recalled how Bonang refused to have a picture taken with her and her sister, telling them to eat their lunch.

“I was 22, I went out to lunch. Bonang sat next to me and my sister. We asked for a picture and she said, ‘eat your lunch sweety’. So we ate our lunch.”However, another user came to Bonang’s defence, saying the star was probably having a bad day, because “sometimes celebrities also need space”.The tweet prompted many reactions, with some also sharing their stories with other celebrities. While most experiences were allegedly bad, some were good.

And if these encounters are anything to go by, Khanyi Mbau, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest are some of the coolest and nicest people around.

Nina Hastie slams white privilege: How are y’all still so ignorant?

She may tell jokes for a living but there was no comedy in sight when comedian Nina Hastie took to Twitter to put white privilege on blast after she had an awkward political conversation.

The comedian, who is known to call out prejudice, racism and many other injustices when she sees them, took to her TL to share a lil situation she found herself in recently that left her fuming.

Nina said a conversation which involved opinions about Jacob Zuma, corruption and how “broken parastatals are apartheid legacies” – which she held different opinions about – got heated.

While she left out details of the people she addressed with her scathing tweets, her message was pretty clear.

“a) I really wish Yt (slang for white) people would stop thinking it’s okay to have their political opinions, when I’m not in a position when I can’t respond (my mouth was clamped literally) b) And be surprised when I don’t agree and c) feel offended when I give you another perspective.”

Nina questioned and slammed the ignorance she detected in that conversation that sparked her anger.

“For f***sakes man if you bring up b***s*** politics at lunchtime on a Tuesday, that’s up to you. These same people don’t even know who the deputy president is. They also think that NDZ is still married to Gedleyihlekisa and she’s his spokesperson.”

“How is it that with all the privilege and access and hours of Carte Blanche – are people so ignorant?” she asked.

Black Coffee starts movement to get the Samas to recognise Master KG … And Mzansi agrees: It’s not too late!

After seeing the demand for Master KG’s song Jerusalema first-hand while abroad, DJ Black Coffee has ignited a movement on Twitter to get the Samas to add Master KG to its  nominations list.

The DJ, who is currently overseas on a European leg of his world tour, shared a few days ago that he was getting requests to play Jerusalema at his gigs.

Coffee went on to give Master KG his flowers and took to Twitter on Wednesday to urge the Samas to “make history”.

“Samas (organisers) don’t you wanna make history, by adding Jerusalema on this year’s Awards … I mean you can,” he suggested on Twitter.

The DJ reasoned that the Sama organisers should find a loophole or create one so that they can include the song, because it deserves a spot there.

“The entire country knows it belongs there. They could even run a petition to be signed by the public, that could help also,” he added.

Black Coffee wasn’t the first South African artist to advocate for Master KG getting a spot on the nominations list.

Prince Kaybee also recognised the global hit and claimed the Samas made a huge blunder by snubbing Master KG.DJ Black Coffee has advocated for Master KG to be recognised by the Samas.

Kaybee even went as far as saying he would give up his award for Song Of The Year to Master KG – should he win it.

Cassper Nyovest, who has been anti-Samas for five years now, agreed that the awards made a huge mistake.

“Master KG and Jerusalema has more hype than the Samas. I’m sure they must be p**sed off because they knew what they were doing was foul and God said, ‘Not with my child!’ He elevated him even further! God is no fool,” Cassper said.
