AKA unimpressed by R2 200 Covid-19 relief fund for artists

AKA. Picture: InstagramLocal rapper AKA took aim at the South African government yet again.

First, it was the alcohol ban, now it’s the Covid-19 relief fund.

During a Twitter rant on Monday, the “Fela Versace” hitmaker expressed his disappointment at the R2 200 Covid-19 relief fund for artists.

In May, Nathi Mthethwa, Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, announced that R150 million has been set aside to assist struggling artists and sports personalities, who were unable to work due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, the minister provided an update on how many artists and sportsmen and women have benefited from the relief fund.

In the midst of the Twitter debate, Charlie Marema posed a question, which reads: “Do you welcome Nathi Mthethwa’s relief package for artists?”

AKA who doesn’t mince his word especially on social media immediately responded to question, he said: “What the fu** am I gonna do with R2 200 a month?”AKA’s question caused a stir on Twitter, with some stating that the rapper should be grateful that he’s getting R2 200 while many South Africans only getting R350.

“We get R350 a month bro….be grateful dammit,” commented Nathi Mahlalela.“Oh I’m sorry, ordinary South African citizens got R350, you get 6 times that amount you complain. What do you think South African citizens have been doing with R350? Anijabuli nje… (just be grateful),” added Siyabinga T.
Oh I’m sorry, ordinary South African citizens got R350, you get 6 times that amount you complain. What do you think South African citizens have been doing with R350? Anijabuli nje…Ey, this comment is derogatory. 2.2 buys a lot for South Africans that are retrenched and unemployed and living on the countries “good graces” (that hasn’t been stolen yet) if they are lucky to get R350pm,” Hazimrey Z wrote.
In a series of tweets, AKA schooled the masses, insisting that he is a businessman who pays salaries, therefore he does not need to be grateful for R2 200.

“NOOOOOOO!!! I don’t want to be grateful and neither should you!!!…oh my GodHe continued: “Yes but I am not retrenched and I am not unemployed. I AM trying to NOT retrench people and I am SELF EMPLOYED. You guys are not going to force me to be grateful for 2k from the government. IT. DOES. NOT. MEAN. SHIT. TO. ME. Okay? Next.”Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago AKA, who is in partnership with Cruz Vodka, went on a Twitter rant, slamming the government for its decision to cease the sale alcohol without prior notice.

In a series of tweets the star expressed his concern about millions of job losses due to the alcohol ban.

‘Fergusons did Kea dirty!’ – The Queen fans complain after explosive episode

After watching the black BMW that was supposedly transporting Kea Khoza blow up on The Queen, the one thing fans of the telenovela agree on is that the Fergusons sure did Dineo Langa dirty with such a “weak” exit.

Viewers of The Queen recently watched Sthembiso (Jerry Maake’s colleague) get shot without his face even appearing in the episode. While viewers knew Kea wasn’t going to be part of season five, they had high expectations of how her exit would be written.

After all, Kea played Harriet Khoza’s daughter was part of the original cast of the popular telenovela but clearly, the writers and producers had a different plan.

So, instead of whatever fans thought would happen (which was clearly ambitious of them), Kea has apparently died after the car she was being driven in from the airport blew up. Kea’s dies on her way to the funeral, thanks to Hector’s plan.

Y’all remember when the Fergusons said characters had to die off for the sake of taking the storyline in a different direction? Well, Kea’s death will be pinned on Vuyiswa as per Hector’s plan.

Needless to say fans feel like Kea and in essence Dineo deserved better. They had the memes for the occasion as always and they also took to the TL to celebrate all the great scenes Kea brought them. Check the reactions out below.

Anele Mdoda continues to get dragged for her comments about US star Kelly Rowland.

Anele Mdoda continues to get dragged for her comments about US star Kelly Rowland.Radio personality Anele Mdoda found herself on the Twitter trends list on Monday when fans again dragged her into a conversation about US star Kelly Rowland.

It’s been more than nine months since Anele first faced the social media firing squad for her comments about Kelly, suggesting the American singer was not as good looking as many people believed.

Since then any time Kelly posts a pic living her best life, Anele is mentioned on the TLs.

It happened again this week when Kelly shared a snap of herself in Beyonce’s Black Is King.

The 947 star was having none of it, and shared a screenshot of a conversation suggesting that Kelly’s “fans” were more obsessed with her than their idol.

Anele poked the bear by claiming Kelly “would literally be the next Beyoncé” if her fans were as loyal to the US star as they were to dragging her.
The trickle of reaction became a tsunami after Anele’s comment about Kelly’s fans divided them.

Some agreed with Anele, while others claimed the star was being “rude” and a “bully”.

Anele said she would not be chased off social media by the insults hurled at her.

“I can’t be bullied and it pains them. The day you think you going to run me off Twitter, I will be here all day long. I need to go make dinner soon, but you get my point. Another thing I have since learnt about this app is you must reply but never tag them,” she wrote.

She encouraged those who criticised her to use the same energy when supporting Kelly.
