She’s taken the world by storm with her and Master KG’s single Jerusalema, but Nomcebo Zikode is not entertaining any suggestions that she might be a one-hit wonder.

The songbird has topped the charts on several occasions before but found another level of international fame after the release of her collab with Master KG.

Jerusalema has topped the charts, been played from Durban to Dubai and Denmark, spawned a viral dance challenge and amassed over 100 million views on YouTube.

Such popularity has led to some predicting that it is all a blimp and the pair could one day be remembered as one-hit wonders.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Nomcebo laughed off the suggestion and said this was just a springboard to bigger things.

“This is not the first song I have recorded to make it big. Even Master KG has released big songs in the past. I recorded a song with DJ Giyani, Emazulwini, it went very big and people were also saying that I would never record another big song, and then came Jerusalema. I have many more songs like that.”

She said that anyone questioning her talent or longevity knew nothing about her.

“Anyone who thinks that I am a one-hit wonder must go study up on me and check all that I have done”.

She said she had no idea Jerusalema would be as popular as it is, and while recording even worried that it may not measure up to their previous songs.

“Honestly, we never thought it would be this big. I remember Master KG was worried, was like ‘you know what, Nomcebo? We can’t take chances here. Remember I am coming from a big song, Skeleton Move. Are you sure? Do you think this is the one?’

“I remember going home and feeling like the song would be big, but never this big.”

Nomcebo said that the song had opened doors internationally but the Covid-19 pandemic and national lockdown had put a lot of their plans on ice.

“I think when the lockdown has lifted and international trips are allowed, we will travel around the world. We have many more songs to come that will keep people dancing.”

Mona Monyane gets real: Have that child for you, sis ‘If he sticks around and pulls his weight then great, but if not life must still go on, joyfully’

Actress Mona Monyane has advised women to base the decision about having children on their own desires and not on factors that are external or potentially temporary.

In a young Twitter thread, the actress advised women to have a child for themselves so that if their baby’s daddy decides to leave, they don’t take out their frustrations on the child.

“Have the baby for you, sis. They change their minds, these ones. One day they are there and the next they are not. You can’t take it out on the baby. Have that child for you. If he sticks around and pulls his weight then great, but if not, life must still go on, joyfully!”

Mona was speaking about the matter following a discussion on the TL about single mothers and absent fathers, which is unfortunately the reality for many people in the country. Most women agreed that living in a society that has normalised women taking the responsibility for children when men decide to walk out on them, made Mona’s tweet extremely important.

They agreed that women always needed to have it at the back of their minds that society still “affords” men the luxury of checking out of parenthood.

The actress had to set the record straight after men jumped onto her TL, interpreting her tweet to mean that women needed to trap men into making babies.

“No. I’m not telling women to trap you. That would backfire on them, not you. Because you can leave whenever you want. She has to carry full term, give birth, nurse and raise that child. That would be very dumb of her, really,” she said.

Moonchild Sanelly has lashed out against claims that she “lacks intellect” just because she’s body confident.

She took to Twitter to slam those that want to equate her “lack” of clothing to a “lack of brains”.

“It’s amazing that by owning ur body and being confident society attaches confidence with lack of brains! But qhubekani both insecure males and not so confident females,” she said.

Moonchild added that it wasn’t just men who made the assumption, but women were just as guilty. While engaging with her followers, the musician also slammed the idea that a woman could only embrace her sexiness for a man.

I figured it out!!! Men hate us coz Adam showed how powerful women are!!! So for as long as we r alive, they want us to pay for his stupidity!!! Basically Adam showed us that men aren’t that powerful anyway! Eve is the girl!!! Girls are Eve!

“According to society – women are only allowed to be ‘sexy’ for the entertainment of men. You may only dress ‘provocatively’, twerk and show your ass, talk about sex etc. when it is in the interest of men,” the tweet read.

The singer also added that she was disgusted that rapists even went as far as blaming the women for their “animalistic” acts.

“It’s ridiculous. I mean it’s sad because even a rapist will blame you for their animalistic act! Somehow they need to be shareholders of your body. Funny enough, even their idea of you won’t change their respect for you! So girl respect yourself,” she said.

As tributes and messages of condolence continue to pour in for Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, Zahara’s tribute received mixed reactions on social media.

Chadwick died over the weekend at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

The Loliwe hitmaker joined thousands of fans from around the world to express her sadness about the untimely death of the king of fictional Wakanda. However, Zahara left tweeps shook when she used the opportunity to tag Chad, and confess she had a crush on the late film star.

Zahara took to her Instagram to post a picture collage of herself and Chad wearing “matchy matchy” outfits, and shot her shot along with a tribute.

“Rest in peace my dream husband King @chadwickboseman. Now I will only meet you in pictures my hero,” the caption read.

The post has since been deleted.

While most people had no issue with Zahara’s crush (because she surely wasn’t the only one), they found the timing of her confession awkward. This landed the singer on the Twitter trends list as people tried to determine what she was thinking when she shared the post. Others defended her, saying people are allowed to mourn their heroes in their own ways.

Staying true to his vision to build generational wealth and an empire, entrepreneur Sbusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope has made another impressive move with the launch of his range of MoFaya soft drinks, and Mzansi couldn’t be prouder.

Mofaya has grown in leaps and bounds since being established five years ago, and on Tuesday DJ Sbu announced a new carbonated soft drinks range. Live streaming on his YouTube channel, DJ Sbu expressed his joy at finally seeing this part of his dream come true.

“I created this drink for you South Africa. Here is a drink for you.”

“MoFaya is not our brand. It is the brand for South African black people and we really all should be proud of the work that has been done here. This is a drink that celebrates you, you black person, because you need to celebrate yourself and be tired of drinking things whose origin you don’t even know,” DJ Sbu said.

In a statement provided to TshisaLIVE, DJ Sbu explained why he believes MoFaya keeps beating the odds to prove it is here to stay.

“MoFaya has been doing incredible work in line with government’s narrative and drive towards youth empowerment, creating jobs, teaching entrepreneurship and business, and living, breathing, walking and preaching it to become a true patriotic organisation that has overcome the odds many times to prove we are here to stay,” DJ Sbu said.

Friends, fans and industry mates have flooded his TL with congratulatory messages. Everyone from DJ Black Coffee and DJ Tira to actors Lunathi Mampofu and many others expressed their pride in the entrepreneur.

“Wow! Congratulations DJ Sbu, this is so inspiring,” DJ Black Coffee said.

“Keep inspiring bro! Black excellence,” said rapper L-Tido.

“King moves, congratulations big bro ,” actor Tiisetso Thokasaid.

MoFaya’s new carbonated soft drinks will be sold through existing wholesale and retail channels nationwide.
