South African singer and actress Nandi Madida took to Twitter on Wednesday, 2 September 2020 to share a sweet moment she experienced when dropping off her son at school. She stated, “I realized today that to some of Shaka’s toddler school friends I am now “Nala”. I heard a “Wow! Shaka’s mom is Nala! Black Is King!”. The Power of Disney!”. Following her tweet, Tweeps began dragging her for what they felt was the most conceited tweet of all time, seeing as the role of Nala was given to Beyoncé in The Lion King remake.

Despite having appeared in Beyonce’s film, Black Is King, as one of the most notable South African cameos, followers didn’t feel as though it warranted her being called Nala. After the tweet received a significant amount of backlash, Nandi deleted it and hoped that the drama surrounding it would stop.

Thereafter, Nandi shared a follow-up tweet, highlighting the toxic hate that comes along with being a Twitter user, especially if you are a public figure. She stated, “Even I’m laughing at the comments. Twitter is the most entertaining platform. It’s an extreme sport and not for the faint hearted. No one is safe. U have 2 know how to laugh at yourself!”.Image

Her nonchalant response granted her redemption amongst followers, as they praised her for seeing the comedy in it, rather than clapping back at her fans.Image

Nomcebo’s “Xola Moya Wam” Goes Gold Her blessings keep increasing

When the blessings start pouring in, there is no stopping them, all you can do sit back and take it all in. This is the case for the talented vocalist, Nomcebo Zikode. A year ago, she was relatively known in the entertainment industry, until she was featured by Master KG on his global hit track “Jerusalema”.

Since then, Nomcebo has enjoyed exposure to international and local fame, her feature on the track even attracted the attention of Nathi Mthethwa, the South African Minister of Arts & Culture. The honourable Minister even bestowed the honour of appointing her and Master KG Ambassadors To The World under the DSAC Cultural Diplomacy Programme.
Uma sekulunga kubasengathi akukaze kubhede 😭💚

God is indeed good🙌🏻, my first song ever where I’m not featured to go Gold, thank you so much @MasterKGsa @OpenMicProdSA and everyone else together we’ve done it again #XolaMoyawamWentGold 📀

And now, the singer can add another achievement to her growing musical career, her song “Xola Moya Wam” just went Gold. In a Tweet she said.
” Uma sekulunga kubasengathi akukaze kubhede (When things go right, it seems as though things had never gone wrong
God is indeed good, my first song ever where I’m not featured to go Gold, thank you so much @MasterKGsa @OpenMicProdSA and everyone else together we’ve done it again #XolaMoyawamWentGold “
Master KG was also very happy for the singer and expressed his admiration and affection for her in a touching, quoted Tweet.

t’s no doubt that the artists have a very successful work-relationship together, despite the challenges that have faced the entertainment industry due to COVID-19 and their snub by the South African Music Awards, they have managed to go against all odds to come out on top. Nomcebo’s talents are now exposed to the world and written in Mzansi history books, for a newcomer to have such exposure, be recognised by an international music company like Shazam and be on the same track as a global superstar like Burna Boy is truly a blessing she shouldn’t take for granted.
Her fans had nothing but blessings for her and rightfully so.

DJ Sbu’s Success Tainted By His Past Tweeps have compared him to Ambitiouz Entertainment

The whole country has been applauding veteran DJ and entrepreneur, DJ Sbu for the recent expansion of his Mo Faya cooldrinks range. At the beginning of the month, DJ Sbu held a press conference to announce his return to the music scene, with an album he plans to launch in October and a single that will release this Friday. He also shared how Mo Faya will launch a soft drink range with a selection of 12 different flavours, with that distinct Mo Faya flavour.

Unfortunately, all of this great news was overshadowed by his questionable past in the music industry, some Tweeps called out his toxic business deals with the likes of Zahara, late Hip Hop legend Pro Kid and late Kwaito legend Brown Dash.In a Twitter thread, the author @kay_mahapa shared why DJ Sbu doesn’t deserve all the admiration and love he is getting.Took Pro’s music off streaming platforms and only uploaded it after his death. He’s yet to show us who got the royalties of those streams. Honestly, fuck him le energy drink ya go nkga He didn’t mince his words and clearly stated why DJ Sbu needed to be cancelled instead, how he exploited and continues to exploit Zahara and the late music legends for unknown reasons. Many Tweeps supported his arguments because of how Zahara was at some point one of the biggest artists in the country but she was allegedly paid peanuts and cheated out of her royalties. The gifted musician ended up leaving TS Records to pursue her own path after her cries never brought her the justice that she deserved.

DJ Sbu, who is known for portraying himself as a good samaritan, by helping people in need when they reach out to him and being a motivational speaker to young people through his Hustlers Academy but his business dealings with fellow musicians has always been questioned. Although there might be more to the story of Brown Dash & Pro Kids royalties ad their music not being available online, Tweeps have compared Sbu to be just like embattled music stable, Ambitiouz Entertainment.Image
