If anyone that has watched popular hip-hop based podcast that is hosted on YouTube, the “Popcast, then Scoop Makhathini’s latest tweet on Ambitiouz Records will leave you floored. The “Popcast” was initially co-hosted by Ms Cosmo, DJ Vigilante, DJ Speedsta and Scoop Makhathini. But recently DJ Speedsta announced his departure from the podcast, and the trio has since published one episode with the previous week’s episode delayed with no word on the delay of the episode.

DJ Sppedsta’s departure was met with a lot of mixed emotions because of the reason that the DJ and “Live AMP” co-host’s reasoning. DJ Speedsta stated that he was leaving the podcast because of the push back he was receiving from his industry contemporaries over his commentary on the show. The decision to leave the show was surprising because of Speedsta’s initial nonchalance about the backlash he received for his abrasive statements and zero-fux opinions.

But it seems that contradictory statements run in the “Popcast” family considering the turn-around Scoop Makhathini on Ambitiouz Entertainment. In multiple episodes of the show, Scoop has dragged the controversial record label for filth. The hip-hop commentator and respected figure in the space has not only called out Ambitiouz Records, but has actually sworn at the record label over their split from artists like Emtee, Fifi Cooper, A-Reece. And he did not hold back his tongue when Sjava’s departure was rumored to be just as messy as the aforementioned. But in his latest tweet, Scoop in his signature caps style of writing tweets; “To Ambitouz Entertainment, I know we have had some problems in the past but I am no hater. This tweet is me saying you guys are the best talent finders in this country hands down.”

He then shouts out the only group to have stayed and flourish under their tenure with Ambitiouz Records, Blaq Diamond. The duo have even partnered with the record label to establish a record label that they run called Umuthi Records. The duo have not had anything negative to say about the record label to date
So many tweeps were confused by the tweet by Scoop Makhathini showering the record company with adoration. Some went on the comments section to inquire about the turn-around or simply just echoed his own words dragging the label back to him.

If you have not been social media for the past few days, here is the tea. Clicks’ website put up an advertisement contrasting hair between “healthy” and “unhealthy” hair. The advert cut the line between the two using natural hair as examples of the “unhealthy” hair, and you have guessed it; Becky looking hair as the “healthy” hair every women should aspire too.

It does turn out that, Clicks is actually not all to the blame for the advertisement, just that they are guilty for hosting the advertisement on their website. The real culprit for the whole racially charged saga is TRESemme. The haircare range was responsible for the advertisement that went on to the Clicks website.

In their public statement TRESemme stated, “We are very sorry that images used by TRESemme South Africa marketing campaign on the Clicks website appears to promote racist stereotypes about hair. Our campaign set out to celebrate the beauty of all hair types and the range of solution that TRESemme offers but we got it wrong.”

The statement than goes on to say, “TRESemme South Africa apologises for the offence these images caused as well as the Clicks Group.” The statement took onus of the advert, and hoped to vindicate Clicks to its consumers. The verdict is still out on that matter, but one thing we know is Afrobotanics and Black Pearl Hair is staying available at Clicks stores.
Pearl Thusi shared the statement from the company on her Instagram post. The official statement was released by the mother company of her haircare range, Afrobotanics owner, Ntombenhle Khathwane. Ntombenhle has been doing interviews on the matter, but on Instagram this is what she had to say, which Pearl concurred too.“I argue that as a supplier to Clicks I would support a consumer boycott of Clicks or of Tresemme, but what is the point of then shopping at Shoprite for example? Less representation and participation of African people in there. There is limited meaningful participation of black people in all aspects and levels of retail in South Africa, period! The consumer could change that if there really was an intention to do so.”Mama Pantha has not even bothered to address the matter on Twitter, because of her tumultuous relationship with the app. The decision is a safe on, considering that the chances are high she would get dragged for anything she would tweet on the matter.

The acclaimed producer and DJ joined in on the social media dragging of Kaizer Chiefs fans following the disappointing loss of the Premier Soccer League to Mamelodi Sundowns. The outspoken and sometimes controversial personality with his tweets from the first tweet went for the jugular by writing, “What did I say, what did I say? Kaizer Chiefs will not win this league.” He accompanied the tweet with laughing emojis.

The man behind the popularizing of the term, “Mabena,” did not relax with the tweets clearly mocking all Kaizer Chiefs. He went as far as dragging Junior Khanye in his tweets gloating about the loss of Kaizer Chiefs run towards the title at the umpteenth hour. But as should have been expected, he also managed to drag DJ Maphorisa during his glee over the of Amakhosi to Amasandawana. The “Ayabulela” producer took to Twitter and wrote, “Today I will be wearing that tent (that)Maphorisa was wearing so you won’t miss me.” The tent reference refers to DJ Maphorisa’s latest fashion faux pas that had him dragged mercilessly on the tweet streets. Do not know the story? Here is the 4-1-1.This past week, the “Drip Drip Juluka” hit maker had taken to social media to post another one of what he believed was a fashion-forward look. The look was color-blocking to the umpteenth power. DJ Maphorisa had on a raincoat that had more colors than the color-wheel and accessorized the look with an oversized, red leather handbag. Safe to say that Twitter did not spare him any slack and dragged him so much, he actually tweeted that he prefers Instagram to Twitter.

Prince Kaybee that has a long and sordid history with DJ Maphorisa joined in on the Twitter roasting of DJ Maphorisa on the day. He not only referred to his outfit as a tent then, but shared DJ Maphorisa’s posts that clearly came from a place of hurt with laughing emojis on his timeline. DJ Maphorisa that usually has come backs, even let the digs slide because that outfit had not excuse. It seems that DJ Maphorisa has run out of come backs this time around too, because instead of having a comeback he has kept mum on the drag by Prince Kaybee. But it might also be a good thing, because a Kaizer Chiefs supporter that attempted to defend the team got clapped back with a, “sub a weak.”

The leading kwaito and amapiano female musicians first teased their upcoming single titled “SBWL” a few weeks back with the monochromatic signature promotional shots from the single’s promotional shoot together. When the first images were revealed with confirmation that the two would release a song together it was the surprise collaboration that nobody asked for, only to find out that would actually sound as great as imagined.

Ahead of the release of the single, Kamo Mphela and Busiswa revealed that they were taking the release of the single a step further. They announced the simultaneous release of the “SBWL” music video. The music video is a tropical feast, featuring an eatirely female (or LGBTI+) cast embracing and celebrating each other and their differently beautiful forms.

The music video which currently sits with over 44 000 views on Instagram has been met with mixed reviews. Some of the comments have suggested that the music video gives them Cardi and Megan the Stallion’s “WAP” videos. But Busiswa addressed the matter during a behind-the-scenes video, stating that her and Kamo had created the song and the music video long before “WAP” was a thing. So in an effort to continue promoting the song, the two have launched the “SBWL Challenge” on social media. The video showcasing the dance moves to the challenge were first shared through an Instagram live session that was hosted on Kamo Mphela’s Instagram a day after the release.

But Busiswa later posted the video on her Instagram feed. The video features Kamo, along with her dancers and Busiswa’s dancers all collaborating together to give us a step-by-step tutorial on how to dance to the challenge. Kamo gives even a step further by throwing in some improvised dance moves. The leading amapiano female vocalist continues to cement that she is a choreographer and that she does not repeat dance moves. Ever! This is after the star has been dragged on social media on-and-off with suppositions that she is a “dance move repeater.” Kamo had initially not addressed the drag. But the bigger her spotlight became the less she entertained the drags and has made it clear that if you come for her dance moves she will block you.
