May his soul continue to rest in peace.

Thami Shobede was suffering from depression when he collapsed while performing on stage about a week ago and later died.

According to his mother Mantombi Buthelezi, who told Sunday Times, he was admitted to hospital for observation last Friday because he was feeling weak, she still did not know what caused his death.

Buthelezi said, “The doctor told us he was suffering from depression. I wasn’t really surprised but I didn’t think it would lead to this. On Monday he was fine but on Thursday he gave in.”

She further told the publication that her son’s sudden illness could have come from the pressure she believed he was under as the family’s sole breadwinner.

“He wasn’t a talkative child, so it was hard to tell where he was emotional. Lately, he closed himself in his room for hours. I wish he had spoken to us as his family, I wish I could comfort him. Not so long ago he sent me a message, telling me he will make me proud even though things aren’t going great. He wanted me to trust him and I did.”ربما تحتوي الصورة على: ‏‏شخص واحد‏، ‏‏بدلة‏‏‏

Shobede, who was 31, died at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria on Thursday, where he had been admitted after collapsing while performing on stage about a week ago.

He made a name for himself in 2017 when he came second on season 12 of “Idols SA”. Although he did not win, he went on to produce an album, “Never Lost”, which earned him multiple award nominations and made him a household name.

Tributes from industry heavyweights have poured in following his death. Vusi Nova took to his Instagram saying he regretted not working with Shobede. “Going to miss our random calls, your sarcasm, your big smile and most of all just hanging out and jamming.

“You asked me to feature and do a remix of your song ‘I love u’ which is my favourite song by you and you kept calling asking me when we were hitting the studio to record it and I kept on procrastinating,” he said in a post.

Lady tries to prove “male besties” are just as important as boyfriends

A local woman has had social media buzzing after she took to Twitter to share two screenshots of two different conversations with both her boyfriend and her male bestie. In the texts, the lady tells the bf and the bestie how she just got stuck. “Babe, my car broke down in the middle of nowhere, I’m so scared,” she wrote in one text to both the boyfriend and to the bestie. The responses from the two differed vastly, somewhat proving the point for some woman that “male besties” are not only important to have, but some times better to have than actual boyfriends, who seemingly can tend to get a little too comfortable in relationships. The boyfriend responded by scolding his girlfriend for not getting her car fixed on time and told her to call a cab. “Your car has been making funny sounds and you didn’t get it checked? Looked what happened now. Call the insurance people and call a cab to bring you home.” He then refused her request for him to fetch her. Meanwhile, her male bestie who was a lot more helpful, advised her to keep safe, offered to fetch her and bring her food. “Look I’m coming to get you. In the mean time, get inside the car and lock yourself in. Call the insurance company, I’m on the way. Just don’t be scared,” he says.

Security guard helps woman, 36, give birth at busy taxi interchange

A pregnant woman was on her way to the hospital for a check-up when her water broke. The 36-year-old went into labour at a busy taxi interchange and security guards came to her rescue.

Even before an ambulance could arrive on the scene, the officers had already helped deliver the baby. One of the heroes detailed the special moment online.A 36-year-old woman was travelling the Somerset Hospital for a check-up when she went into labour. The mom, Bomikazi Hlabongi, ended up giving birth at the busy Station Deck interchange. She approached Security SA (SSA) operations staff and they took her to the guardroom. The staff then phoned an ambulance but it took too long to arrive and the officers had to assist Hlabongi to give birth. One of the security officers, Rafeeq Khan, wrote about the experience on his Facebook page. His post read: “We always get judged on what we do and the steps we take to uphold the law, I was always told this uniform shouldn’t define you as a person but how could I if I get to play different roles every day. Sometimes you a psychologist, fireman, mechanic and a bearer of bad news. “Today was totally different, today I assisted mommy and other colleagues deliver a baby, today I became a doctor. Meet Lulandalo, born at 9:15 on the 09/09/2020. Congratulations mommy, all the best for you and baby. Dr. Khan.”
