Springboks former playmaker, Elton Jantjies: Where is he now?

The story of Springbok star flyhalf Elton Jantjies is nothing short of a captivating rollercoaster ride.

In 2019, Jantjies soared to prominence as a crucial part of South Africa’s triumphant World Cup-winning team.

His extraordinary journey since then has been marked by startling twists and turns.

ELTON JANTJIES: FOR THE LOVE OF RUGBY
Elton’s connection to rugby was not merely coincidental; it was ingrained in his DNA. He was raised in a family where rugby was more than just a sport; it was a way of life. The Jantjies household echoed with tales of triumph and tribulations on the rugby pitch.

Elton Jantjies’s father, Jan Boland Coetzee, was a renowned rugby figure, and his uncle, Andre Jantjies, had donned the prestigious green and gold jersey as a former Springbok according to RugbyPass.

ELTON JANTJIES AND THE GOLDEN LIONS
Jantjies’ talent began to shine through during his youth career with the Golden Lions. There he showcased his playmaking abilities and composure under pressure. These performances did not go unnoticed, and he earned the opportunity to represent South Africa at the U20 level.

As Elton Jantjies continued to impress with his skilful displays in domestic rugby, he received his long-awaited call-up to the senior national team, the Springboks. The road to his international debut was paved with consistent excellence and an unyielding commitment to his craft.

It was not just his prowess but also his ability to orchestrate the game and elevate his team’s performance that caught the selectors’ attention.

LEGAL BATTLES AND SCANDALS
In 2022, Elton Jantjies faced threats from menacing individuals, who, he believed, were seeking payment for an unpaid fee. This fee was owed to his former agent. The legal battle left him fearing for his safety and forced him to seek protection.

The drama didn’t stop there. Elton Jantjies then became a tabloid sensation when news broke of his affair with the team dietician, Zeenat Simjee.

Private investigators began tailing his every move. All this made the player the centre of a media frenzy.
