I really don’t know how it’s going to pan out because it’s something that I didn’t think I’ll need to share with you here, but unfortunately or fortunately only God knows, I’m sharing this. So many of you who are avid fans and followers of the work that I do, know that I started a talent agency called Sans Group and we’ve grown gradually. We had just opened our doors to our beautiful new home in Parkhurst and we had our first open day finally and things are looking great and then Covid happened in March and we’ve been closed since the 18th of March.”

“If you have been longing to come to Sans group to take a class or meet us or learn more about what we about or get some training from, I’m sorry you won’t get to do that in 2021. Unfortunately will be closing the Sans group will be closing it’s doors, I don’t know for how long.”

“I am very sorry but it is beyond my control at this point and I thank you all for your support.”

When the popular radio station Ukhozi announced their top 10, many were rooting for rapper Big Zulu to win the title for Song Of The Year, as his hit single Imali Eningi has broken records and has also amassed more than 5.3 million views on YouTube. As a song that was played in many radio stations for people like Professor, the win was definitely his.Post main image

As the clock moved steadily towards midnight, the top three was announced and it was non other than Big Zulu who took the number three spot. It then became pretty obvious that the two biggest songs in the country according to Ukhozi FM and their 7.7 million listeners were Maskandi songs performed by Khuzani and Indlabeyiphika.

Like every other year, the Ukhozi FM Song Of The Year which is decided by listeners in all radio stations causes a stir on social media and conversations around tribalism occur. Yearly, the radio station gets lambasted by many people for only showing support to KZN artists.

In a video, Professor said the radio station presenters Tshatha Ngobe, Sipho “DJ Sgqemeza” Mbatha and it’s listeners, especially Maskandi supporters were jealous of Big Zulu’s success. “You are all jealous, Big Zulu did not win Song Of The Year?” he says, as he proceeds to cuss the radio presenters. “A song that is played nationwide and around the world, did not win. You guys are all jealous.”

Realizing his mistake, Professor then took back his words and apologised to everyone he offended. He said he has no idea where his words came from and he does not wish to repeat what he said.

Many artists were also rooting for Big Zulu to win as they believe it would mean a lot for the game. Cassper Nyovest said, “@BigZulu_ZN winning song of the year on Ukhozi FM would be such a dope moment for the culture.”

In other radio stations Makhadzi won Song Of The Year for her hit single Murahu on various radio stations nationwide. She also made history by being the only artist to take the title for two years in a row. Last year she won Song Of The Year for Haka Matorikisi.

Halala! Khaya Dladla Is Back On Our Screens The actor recently bagged a role on eHostela

Post main imageMulti-talented actor and singer Khaya Dladla has decided to give acting another chance after he was sidelined by SABC 1’s hit soapie Uzalo producers.

The actor who won the hearts of many fans on the show with his enthralling performances was reduced to a call actor but now he is back on screen. Khaya made his debut in eHostela last night and he plays the character of Nxebale Ndoda. The show returned for its second season last night and it plays on Mzansi Magic.

Khaya’s fans took to social media to express their excitement following his debut after his Uzalo stint which turned him into a household name with a legion of fans. Some hailed him for being versatile as he takes on a new role different from the gay character he portrayed on Uzalo. The hard-hitting show is centered around township violence and the deadly taxi industry. eHostela features a star-studded cast and the first season of the show was shot in Durban but the second season moved to Johannesburg

Khaya’s return to our small screen is something to celebrate especially following his dramatic Uzalo exit which left fans foaming at the mouth. Speaking to ZAlebs last year about his departure from the show, he said it really hit him hard.

“The thing is with me leaving the show, I didn’t process it because I wasn’t told I was leaving the show, so there was no time for me to digest that in the next three months I won’t be on this show because, no one said anything to me about not coming back. Other actors were told that they won’t be coming back but I was not,” he said.

Khaya was reduced to a call actor on the show, but his future was skating on thin ice because Uzalo producers did not inform him when he will be needed to film his scenes. He said he has since moved on with his life because he can’t hold back onto that.

“At the end of the day, there was no book or line in my life that said I would work for Uzalo and I did there was no book that said I would stay on Uzalo for 20 years. It was one of those things that wake up and you need to move on and I’m so glad because I needed that break, I think everything happens for a reason.”

Khaya said he had a great work ethic on the show. “When I was let go on Uzalo, there was no reason to say that maybe I was troublesome, I was so professional, I wrote lines for GC, I prepped for everything and my scenes. People called and said I have been fired. If I was like I’m not fired, I’m now a call actor, meanwhile Khaya has been fired because it cannot happen that you put someone on standby for 1 year,” he said.

Khaya has since been focusing on his radio gig on Gagasi FM and he is now engaged to Mercutio Buthelezi.

Kelly Khumalo opens up about life after Senzo Meyiwa

Kelly Khumalo appears in the latest issue of Moziak magazine where she spoke about the year she’s had.

In the interview with the online magazine, Khumalo opened up about media scrutiny and being in the public eye where she said: “I mean, what can I say? I’m not going to sit here and pretend to be a victim and cry over every bad thing people have said about me. I understand the life I lead and what comes with it and I have grown thick skin over the years and learnt to deal with it.

“Yes, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it cuts deep, but for the most part I have learnt to leave them to it. There will always be doubters and detractors.”

However, the Senzo Meyiwa case brought the singer back into the spotlight after Police Minister, Bheki Cele said police had arrested five suspects in the murder case and leaked documents on social media suggested police were investigating Khumalo’s involvement in Meyiwa’s death.

Social media had a field day with the allegations with many weighing in on her involvement with the case.

Tell us about The Voice of Africa, what made you choose to theme your album around the continent?Senzo Meyiwa

This album was rooted in Africa. Anybody who knows me knows I am proudly African and I always encourage Africans to embrace their roots, to unite and to learn about our respective cultures.

The Voice of Africa was really me paying homage to African women, African people and telling authentic African stories using my gift – my voice. Hence the title, The Voice of Africa came about. There are a lot of negative stereotypes about a lot of African things; from our unique spiritual practices, to our medicinal practices, even down to how we view other Africans, so this album for me was also about educating my listeners about this beautiful place we come from.

At a time when a lot of artists were delaying releases, what made you continue to go ahead with your plans?

Well to be honest, most of my album was recorded before lockdown so I wouldn’t say I experienced any delays. One of the songs, Esphambanweni, the vocalists (myself and Hlengiwe Mhlaba) recorded it at separate venues but aside from that, everything else was all done. The only thing left once lockdown began was mixing and mastering and once that was done, we planned a release date and thankfully, we were able to go ahead with it.Senzo Meyiwa and Kelly Khumalo

For me, I consider myself to be an artist rather than just a musician, and once I complete a body of art I send it out to the world and see what the reaction will be.

Speaking of art, are you never worried that some people will misinterpret your message, like what happened with the Empini music video where people accused you of Blackface?

Can I tell you something? I knew there would be something like that. I knew that despite all the research I had done, and the historical background behind the role I was portraying (the Egyption goddess Bastet), there was going to be someone who looked for the negative in it. So I was prepared for those blackface comments and when they came about, I simply explained my reasoning for the video. Art is always subjective, it can be controversial but only if you don’t have the context. Context is everything.

low it down or something.

…But there are some soulful amapiano songs!

Okay, true. Let me say that I probably won’t do a gqom song, but if it was a smooth and soulful, loungey amapiano song then maybe.

Any message to the country ahead of 2021?

It’s been a long year and I know that we are all tired right now but we still need to remain strong, remain disciplined for some of the months ahead. It hasn’t been easy but part of me believes the worst is behind us. Let’s just try our best to remain strong, remain diligent for these next few weeks or months until we have finally won this battle.
