Here is the reason why actress Deli Malinga is not leaving Umkhokha: The Curse.

Mzansi Magic demanded actress Deli Malinga’s return to Umkhokha: The Curse as fan-favourite character Mamzobe.

This is after isiZulu publication Isolezwe reported that Uzalo actress Baby Cele might replace Malinga as Mamzobe in the faith-based telenovela.

Sources from production confirmed to Zimoja that the big bosses at the channel did not want to take the risk of losing ratings, even though producers thought they could continue the show without Malinga.

It is believed that money was one of the main reasons why Malinga was leaving the show. “She was not getting what she thought she deserved- but now that she renegotiated, it is going to be a different game,” added the source.

The publication adds that M-Net head of channel Nomsa Piliso confirmed that they met with Malinga: “We discussed the issue with her but are not sure what she has decided yet,” she added.

The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) September 2023 figures revealed that Umkhokha: The Curse was now the most-watched TV show on DStv with 933 256 viewers.

The South African reached out to actress Deli Malinga who was not available for a comment at the time of publishing this article.

‘UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE’: NOVEMBER SPOILERS
The TVSA Umkhokha: The Curse November teasers reveal that Mamzobe’s witchcraft will succeed in killing an unborn baby.

Wednesday, 8 November teaser reads: “MaMzobe’s witchcraft succeeds, and the baby dies.”

Though the teasers don’t reveal whose baby will die as both MaBusi (Hope Mbhele) and Nokubonga (Siphelele Luthuli) are pregnant, we can’t predict Mamzobe will regret killing the baby.

Mamzobe plans to kill MaBusi’s baby as she wants Nokubonga’s baby to be the heir to the family’s church like her late son, Mlungisi (Nkululeko Mchunu).

Viewers of the telenovela predict that Nokubonga’s baby will die instead, the headline for the teaser reads: “The Great Mistake”
